Not the only factor for sure but surely you'd agree that heightened parent involvement, interest and expectation would only improve a school's standing in the community? I'm at a school now where parents are there from 8:00am running the cricket nets, volleyball / basketball in the gym and on Friday mornings are invited to bring their instruments and play with the student band before school! I've never seen anything like that before and to me it speaks volumes about how they value the school.


I agree that having that support would be very helpful towards students and teachers. But a school that doesn't have that support does not necessarily mean it cannot be as good as those that do.

Seeing that the mrs and i attended 2 of the most upstanding High Schools in the Port Adelaide/West Lakes area (Seaton me & Taperoo her), we decided little miss will be given a decent education at a private school.
Although the cost is a bit embarrassing to tell people, after reading the curriculum for the junior school, we decided that sending her there would give her the best chance at succeeding at what ever she chooses to do.
