May the best side win.

:?
Isn't that the whole idea of having a competition over the 27 weeks to find out who is the best side?

Sturt looked very ominous at HHEO yesterday.

Great to catch up with Sam again :D :D , also Postie, Ben and Co.

Central have some very passionate loyal supporters.

Ooops, forgot to mention Chrissie, who was at our table at the 2005 Quiz night at Oval Avenue. :)

It was great to meet sturtpeter yesterday at the game and have to agree sturt definatly played the better football on face value.
From central point of view was happy no players were injured and was quite impressed with ryan williams who no doubt will be a league regular this season. Also matty Westoff did a few real good things and may hold one of key forward position down.
Cameron Faulkner played well and will be a hundred times better for the run he has put on some beef thats for sure.
I liked the look of Keiran McShane and Earl Shaw but don't expect them to play much league this year, but definatly have promise and may add depth this season.
In the reserves was very impressed with Elijah Ware, Adam Varcoe, Alex Stengle, Chris Musolino.
Notable absentees today were, Ian Callinan, Luke Cowan, Chad O'Sullivan, Luke McCabe, Trent Goodrem, Daniel Havelberg

While it might be easy to brush off trial game losses due to the very nature of them being trials, surely a coach would prefer a winning mentality amongst the playing group as early as possible in the season.

Unless you are a very, very good side, winning form is not something that you can simply produce when you feel like it. If a side lost every trial match, what suddenly gives them the confidence to perform well in round 1 just because the 2 points are up for grabs?

Therefore, I can understand sp's excitement, even if it is somewhat muted compared to his usual posts.

They got over that OK it seems...

And I'm pretty sure the dogs lost all trials in 04, followed up by 3 wins in the first 7 or 8 rounds. Didn't seem too important on GF day.
