I already pay enough taxes thanks very much - im with psyber on this one - also be very careful - cash in hand jobs = no workcover = big problemo when a window cleaner falls off a scaffold and severely injures himself and can not feed his family for 6 months and loses his house... hmmmmmm

Why dont you go to a supermarket before a public holiday, or even better two public holidays such as on Easter Saturday and stand infront of the deli and meat departments for two or three hours waiting for the staff to mark down meat or seafood...sure you save a few $$ but is that amount of time worth the effort. I guess those people who bring their kids (who I might add can get in under adults to the front) can claim it as quality family time.

Not quite. My understanding as someone who's been paying workcover for 15 years is that every employee is covered whether it's a foreigny or not. Even if the employer is taking in all cash & has'nt registered with Workcover his workers are covered. The problem being that the employer must pay all medical bills, wages, cop the fine & backpay any contributions thet can be proved due. So the bloke who's doing the hiring, if he suddenly wants to go legit will also be reported to the ATO & his levy will be around the 17% mark, I'd say he'd be the one losing his house, not the former.
Hey soccer you owe us 45million.

However, as the employer may deny having ever employed the person or delay by arguing he was a subbie, or wasn't injured on the job, surviving until the claim is established may be an issue.
