I think thats the time (local pm) that the Olympics officially begins because 8 is supposed to be a lucky number over there.

going by how the chinese play roulette i think you are right with that one JAS

plus i cant remember but the day/month/year was interesting too in how chinese relate it to the year of the dog etc.

day o something into the month of another and the year of whatever it is now

It will happen in a similar way next year, which is less lucky for the Chinese:

DATE 09/09/09
TIME 9:09

and so on for the next 3 years also.

As it's only 08/08/08 because Pope Gregory said it is when he approved the Gregorian Calendar if they have chosen 8pm on 08/08/08 because it's supposed to be lucky could that be classed as jumping on the bandwagon...if it does they're gonna need an hell of a lot of buses :wink:
