Is there still such a thing??

You know where you pay for your car to be converted to gas and then you get a rebate back.

Yep, you can still get it.
I think it pays up to about $2000, not 100% sure on that though.

A couple of guys I know who have had conversion done say they wish they hadn't. They cite the long time required for the costs to be recuped from the savings, and the servicing and running problems they have had.

I don't know anything about it personally, but it may be worth checking out...

Retro fitting can be harmful if you have an earlier model vehicle,if you have a late model vehicle the rings and head are better prepared to deal with the higher running temperatures of LPG.However,always speak to a trusted (if there is one) mechanic to see what condition your rings and head are in before you go and fit LPG.

Also weigh up the current LPG costs to see how long it will take to get your money back,as Psyber suggested.

When I first did my first coversion in the early 90's,the conversion was $900 and gas was 15c/litre...didnt take long to get my money back.
