I think someone said Koops had signed with Central.

Norwood has signed Gavin Hughes (formerly Nwd, rookie at Western Bulldogs and now back again)and Kieran McGuinness (back from overseas travel) for their returns to the club in 2009!

As I pointed out in my thread, I know it is still the business end of the season with the SANFL finals but after this weekend, the AFL will be over and that is when we will start to see a lot more player movement and therefore rumour and inuendo as to who might be coming over to SA.

I assume you are talking about former North recruit Stephen Koops ???

Did he play footy at all this year and where or from who did you hear Centrals had signed him, it's an interesting one ?

It's been known for a while now about Hughes and McGuinness but they'll be handy pick ups for the Redlegs in 09.

Wish I had your sources about the Redlegs BP. They're obviously a lot closer to the action than mine.

McGuinness was always going to come back wasn't he????? and Hughes walked out on the Bulldogs ages ago and returned home to Adelaide and probably could have played this year if they let him register with Norwood.

Hughesie needed some time out, simple as that. Nothing to do with registration issues.

No sources mate, just observe a lot and listen to lot's of media outlets...

Plus...

When McGuiness left last year to travel, didn't he himself say he'd be back for season 2009 ? I'm sure I heard it back then, that's why I said what I did. I think it was mentioned on this site a few times as well when he originally made the decision.

And Hughsey...

He obviously gave up on the AFL and came back home, and if my memory serves me correct, was actually the league runner for a couple of games. Not sources on this one, just common sense that said if he's back home in SA and involved with the club, fair chance he'll be playing with the Legs in 09.

Cheers,

BP

Don't be suprised if a former Centrals recruit, who is well travelled, ends up in the SANFL in season 2009 but not with the Dogs !!??

I would be staggered if Centrals recruited Koops, he was a dud at North and seemed to lack passion. All the key points including age would count against him and he is exactly the type not to recruit in the SANFL.

I do agree with you on your points about Koops Jackal and like I said earlier, I don't know that he played footy this year so it would be a big risk.

It's not like Centrals to recruit this type of player but hey, the people at the inner sanctum of Goodman Road have been getting it right with a fair majority of recruits in the last decade so who knows ?

With all due respect to North, maybe the environment down there didn't suit him and the best was not brought out of him ? Maybe Centrals fits better if it does eventuate ? He was a good footballer in his prime but would have passed that by now, but the Dogs have had issues all year with key position players so maybe they might get 1 or 2 years out of him, who knows ???

I heard the same thing BP, also Mick Weatherald told me that as well when he was working for his meat company and left to travel.

Yep, K-Mac always said he would return ... I guess when you've been a struggling club as we have for a while now, you tend not to count your chickens with these things, so great to see he's re-signed.

now this is a delicate subject & I hope that it is taken in the best possible way but it seems for some strange reason that indigenous men don't seem to remain focussed & passionate. Examples are Stengle, Wilson, Faulkner. All extremely talented but not dedicated enough to try & perform at the highest level. Hopefully Sansbury won't fall into the same category & it could be said that Koops is in the same group, unfortunately!
