Gee Mal, I hope you mean M. Clarke! As good a number 11 as Stuey Clark is, I hope he isn't carrying the batting hopes on his shoulders...

Will be an interesting series. I wonder if Ponting's woes against Harbajahan will continue in India - chances are they might.

CLARK deserves a promotion after his 44 batting 11 in the scratch match

On the weekend I entered the Fox Sports fantasy cricket comp. In my 12 players I selected only three Australians but will get on the Kat if he gets selected. We are in trouble I reckon boys.

I have a feeling we are really going to stuggle against the Indian's this tour, we are looking pretty bad at this stage.

Yeah its not looking good at the moment, and if McGrain's replacement is white then well we are in a bit of trouble.

To be honest I can't see them beating us but we have dropped back to the pack. I think they'll be more of a chance to beat us in the ODI series (if Tait doesn't play).

I hope you're right Goz but who is going to get them out? It is the ODI's where we have the better chance of victory IMO, it is in the real cricket that you struggle when you have a dodgy attack. I'd play Siddle in this test and leave White and Krejza out.

No matter what team they go with there will be at least a couple (if not more guys) who simply should never play Test cricket for Australia that get picked. One of those has previously played and been given ample opportunity without even going close to rewarding the faith shown in him.

I hear what you're saying but our attack is good enough. We don't have a quality spinner, so what? Warnie used to get smacked around the park by them anyway. As much as I loved Warnie I used to cringe when he would come on over there against them. We've got Clark and Lee together with Johnson (who I'm not a huge fan of) and will have a few others chipping in. While a shadow of what we were that's as good as attacks get, IMO. They've got Zaheer (who is quality), Sharma who has been ordinary this year, Kumble who's past it (just play him as a medium pacer) and Singh who only becomes a concern against Australia in India. If Ponting keeps a few things in mind out there, I doubt Singh will do much other than clean up the tail. I'd go with Siddle or Bollinger too and not bother with the spinner, he's just going to get hammered.

I'm hanging for this don't worry and I think it will be a contest (at least early) but only beause it's over there.

I have thought about this over the weekend and I have come to the conclusion that the batting is worrying me more than the bowling line-up...
The bowling line-up is basically the same one the that was used against them at home, minus Hogg.
The batting line-up is more shakey.
Top you have Haydos, who is under an injury cloud and is obviously a lot older than he was in 01 and 04, with Katich - who needs to have the series of his life. Then you have Ponting who isn't in great form of late, especially against India, coupled with the added pressure of this series which IS the biggest test of his captaincy to date. Hussey at four hasn't played a test in India. Clarke at five is not much of a worry for mine, tipping him to have a good series. At six you have possibly Watto, who is as yet unproven with the bat at international level, let alone in India. Then at seven is Haddin, who is a excellent batsman but yet to play a Test in India, like Hussey.

The first Test is going to be crucial, a lot like the recent Carribbean series. If Ponting gets off to a good start personally with the bat in the first Test, then Australia will be a good chance to take or at least draw the series.

You know what? I'm actually really excited about this tour! Although that's mainly because Watto finally has the chance to cement his spot in the team! :D

But I like having new players in the team, getting their chance to prove themselves. I only wish we went with a bit more youth now, aka Shaun MARSH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, it's not like he has been given opportunities before that he has failed to take  How many chances can the guy stuff up before the selectors realise he is not up to it either fitness wise nor ability wise??

Are you blind? MOTS in back-to-back tournaments, followed up by another good showing, and you still don't want him to get another go. He will make it this time, trust me. WATTO!!!

MOTS in what type of cricket?? FFS 20/20 is not real cricket and is no indicator of a players ability to handle Test match conditions nor is 50 over cricket. Completely different games requiring completely different skills. What has he done in the longer form of the game that suggests he deserves another oppourtunity??
