If you make $2000 on a saturday night and then loose half your trading hours and only make maybe a $1000 how is that not a loss

as i said if other teams use the available grounds you would still be the away side. fri night game your lower grades still would play sat but push the times back still would have presentations the same time exept the a grade and officials will be buying drinks all day and night most prob and still have your presentations. you could use your initative and bring a ute and sell your own teams grog even at a price and get everyone together in the same light. it would be good for moral and comeradery getting everyone together. need to try things to see if they work

i'd still say it's not a LOSS, as you would still be making a PROFIT, albeit not as much as normal.

but it wouldnt COST the club anything, because i would define the word COST as meaning paying for something. ie . not making a PROFIT

and think of the gain you will get when it is your home night game and you have a thousand more people than usual to your game and you ten times your profit you lost from your away game

there is only a few grounds that can hence why i said that it would need to be done like the finals how it might be say emus vs port noarlunga but shoes are home ground but just make a home team and away team doesnt matter what groundeven if it was a sat there are still people spending while wagtching the game buying the bbq having drinks etc. if you couldnt turn a good profit from it then youd need to have someone else running your club.

As much as it would be great to see and play underlight on a saturday night, the home clubs are the only one who would benifit, bigger crowd and more money taken at the gate over the bar and bbq. It cost the away team plenty as they would loose there saturday night back at there club, even if the game finished at 8.30pm by the time people got back to there club it would be to late to make any money behind the bar or on meals. Don't want to sound like a stick in the mud but as an away club we would want some sort of compensation for that loss.

i know its a different league but these problems can be dealt with ie we play strath under lights each year at altertnate home grounds this year is our turn and we play willunga at home every year underlights and the return game at willunga is on a sunday, therefore giving both clubs a chance to maximise there takings
who ever thought of the saying winning isn't everything, probably lost!!

Unfortunately in the SFL with 15 teams now we do not get the opportunity to have return games in the one season. And the way the draw has gone for the last few years some teams do not even play the return game the following year. I know of some games between clubs have been at the same venue for the last 4-5 years straight.

I tend to agree with Wheels that if you are small club that does not trade everyday to make a quid you need to maximise your turnover in the hours you are open - if you only have 6-7 hours of a Saturday night (based on an away game with players/supporters returning to the club approx 6pm and trading to midnight) in which to make your money, no games on a Sunday and it soon closes the window of opportunity. Throw in 2-3 away games in a row and things can get pretty tight finacially for a club.

i think we have hosted morphett vale for at least 2 maybe 3 or 4 years. i'd say this is purely to help us out, to bring the emus and their big following to aldinga for us to capitalise on how many supporters they have. not sure if this is the reason, or if it happens to any other club though??

maybe it's just coz the SFL love us? ;)

isnt it so you guys dont have to travel for the pasting no offence. think you would find if you went thru most of the bottom teams when playing the top 4 more would be at home than away. as far as i thought. id hate to be say aldinga 3 years ago travelling to brighton to be dusted up by 40 goals. youd prob not get to field your best side compared to at home

you could be onto something there...the only top team we didnt play at Hackham was Brighton...and that was the 60 goal smashing...but to be fair to myself and the rest of the boys that was the week our d!ckhead "coach" packed up and left on the Thursday night....but i dont understand why we would play a team only once two years straight, being Morphettville Park, and play both times at their home ground...going from the result of the 2008 game, we'd be half a chance if we weren't playing on a medium strip...

funny yes, but would have a shot at beating the twisties, unlikely.

The league is quite fortunate the council spent all that money fixing up hackham oval five or so year ago.

Well we kicked our highest score of the year that game..and were leading for a lot of the first half...with a few key players missing..

that is it the official draw!

the only changes are when clubs put in their proposals for venue and time ie night games.

the proposals will be done tonight at the SFL meeting.

Yes 2 years running we have requested a Sun game v Pt Noarlunga and have been denied both times.
We have asked for a home and away game v Porties due to the rivalry and the cup both clubs play for.
