Pressure mounted on CocaCola and PepsiCo yesterday as two more Indian states banned the sale of soft drinks at government run schools and colleges amid allegations they contain high levels of pesticides............
....The moves followed claims last week by a New Delhi based research body the soft drinks had higher levels of pesticides than allowed by authorities.
Coca Cola and PepsiCo insisted their drinks were safe.

I have done my lab test using my references from my favourite
book The Chemical Maze written by Bill Statham.

Ingredients with some TCM comments on potential effects.

Colour [150d]........hyperactivity/increased bowel movements/blood toxicity in rats/inhibits metabolism of B6 in rabbits/serious doubts exist on safety.

Food Acid[338]...may lead to tooth erosion and calcium loss in bones.

Food Acid[330]..may provoke symptons in those who react to MSG/may aggrevate the herpes simplex virus.

Sweetener[951]... known as Aspartame = headache/depression/anxiety/asthma/fatigue/hyperactivity/MS like symptons/blindness/aggression/migraine/insomnia/dizziness/irritability/epilepsy/memory loss/seizures/NRC and womaen during pregnancy/teratogenic.

Sweetener[950]..caused lung tumours/breast tumours/luukaemia/respitory disease and cancer in aniMALs.

Preservative[211]..athsma/contact dermatitis/hay fever/mouth and skin irritation/hyperactivity/anaphylaxis/aspirinsensitive people may wish to avoid.

Contans Phenylalanine...sufferers of phenylketonuria,melanoma or cirrosis need to restrict intake, phenylketonuria if not detected early can lead to mental deterioration in children.


Gee no wonder India is banning this drink.
I still drink normal coke the variaton is sugar instead of all those things in Diet Coke to substitute the sugar being voided.
Drinking one can of this coke however is reputed to be be the equivalent of 10 spoons of sugar in it.
BUT it tastes good !!!!

Some of you may possibly have listened to overnight radio 5 or so years ago and a show in particular hosted by Graham Guy on 5AA.
There was a lady who used to ring in a bit mentioning certain chemical additives and 951 in particular. In the end she was almost ridiculed off the air by some listeners (not Graham himself though).
Just goes to show that there are people out there (like one certain Central supporter who posts on here about once a fortnight) who take as gospel what the Government, Food and Drink companies, Drug companies and Oil companies tell us.
Don't like the look of this 951 but it hasn't been around long enough to gauge possible long term effects but I think like anything that in moderation it won't be a big deal but John Daly could be in trouble in the future
