SMOSH don't have to stay up at all gothebombers. They've already accepted their spot in Div 3 and there's nothing the SAAFL can do about it. The previous poster was absolutely correct, the SAAFL will continue top ask clubs to accept nomination in Div 2 and if nobody wants to go up it'll be a 9 team comp.gothebombers wrote:its either scotch or smosh........as smosh were 9th and scotch were bottom...altho scotch have been put in there div 2, if they changed their mind then its got to be smosh....wont be any other sides. btw they are no longer in tynte st its now thebby just fyi

This is a huge mess 2 months out from the beginning of the season.
This will even put the draw back even further.
Scotch nominated for div 2 and this was accepted by the league so they should be held to that division for season 2009

Does that mean we could have 11 teams in D3?

At THIS stage only 9 teams have nominated for Div 2 and yes 11 have nominated for Div 3. We all know that this will never happen and something will occur to make it a 10 team competition but that is the state of play at the moment Jimmy and nobody knows the answer of how to balance the Divisions out. You can bet one team will want to come up and try to play in Div 2 and just try to stay there. Clubs who believe they are on the up and up will take on the option. Someone like Golden Grove for instance I am sure would give it a crack if given a chance. What an opportunity to a club if they think they can match it. Saves a lot of years of heart ache to jump 2 or 3 grades quickly

Shads and Co then approached Kilburn who finished 3rd in Divy 3 last year to come up and take the vacant spot and they declined, Then they trooped off to Walkerville who have also declined to go - Story has it that Para Hills who finished 5th last year in Divy 3 will be the next asked on Monday.
Could have either Portland or Mitcham who have just come up from Divy 4 playing Div 2 at this rate.
What a shambles. Scotch have to be told they have to stay where they are and cant go back or Kilburn have to be told to come up. This is turning into a bloody raffle.
Might even have Kenilworth or Central United or Ovingham, getting a gig in Div 2 at this rate.
This is a true story with no one in Tynte Street knowing who the 10th team will be in Divy 2 this year because no one wants to be there.
