MATHS QUIZ NO.39 LOGIC

1. Four couples decided to go camping to the state forest one weekend. Each couple travelled in a different van and each chose a separate camping spot. The camping sites were all labeled with a space number and while they were in the same area, the sites were not touching. Using the clues and the grid below, determine the full name of each couple, the color of their van, and the number of their camping space.

1. Bill, who is not married to Laura, didn't drive a black van.

2. Chuck and his wife Brenda were not camped in space #35. Brenda's last name is not Forrest.

3. The Lewis couple, who drove a tan van, camped in space #31.

4. Tom camped in a space numbered lower than the one Cindy camped in but higher than the couple who drove in the red van did.

5. Tom isn't married to Mary Tread. Steve Branch didn't drive a blue van.

6. The couple driving the black van camped in space #43.

2. This year, all the employees at SAFOOTY, Inc participated in the annual company picnic games. The employees were randomly placed on five different teams and competed in five different events. The teams all had a chosen team captain, who selected the team name and color. As it happened, each team won a different event and placed in various others. The overall winning team was the one with the most points scored in the individual events. From the clues, determine the name of each team captain, the team names, the team colors, each team's final place, and the event each team won.

1. The Bears didn't win the volleyball match. The Tigers won the water relay but their team color wasn't blue.

2. The Lions beat the white team but were beaten by both Larry's team and the team that won the sack race.

3. Ann's team wasn't the Panthers. Sharon's team wasn't the team that won the balloon toss and the Bears wasn't her team name.

4. The teams placed, from first to fifth, as follows: the black team, the Wolves, Greg's team, the red team, and the team that won the 100-yard hit.

5. Tom picked green for his team's color. Larry's team didn't win the balloon toss.

6. The team that won the sack race was in 2nd place and beat, in no particular order, Ann's team, the team that won the volleyball match, and the white team.

3. Sara and her siblings were playing Monopoly before dinner yesterday. They all got to pick their favorite game piece when they started. During the game, each managed to build on their best property before they were called to dinner. Determine the name of the players, what their best property was, how much they built on it, and what each player's favorite game piece was.

1. Sara had more houses built than the owner of the Pennsylvania Avenue property.

2. The one who built the hotel used the top hat game piece. Anne, who didn't use the car game piece, also didn't own the Marvin Gardens property.

3. Billy didn't use the car game piece. Anne didn't have the Boardwalk property.

4. The States Avenue property had three houses on it, the most houses built on a single property.

5. Rick didn't own the States Avenue property. Anne owned the property with one house built on it. Rick's sister used the dog game piece.

6. The one who owned the Boardwalk property had two houses built on it, but she didn't use the shoe game piece.

Determine the full name of each friend, the song title each sang, and the full name of the artist who first performed the song.

1. “Solitude” was not originally sung by Ricky Star. “Angel” was not originally sung by Ms. Turner. Anette, whose last name wasn’t White, didn’t sing the song that Sara chose.

2. Sara, whose last name isn’t Lambert, didn’t sing a song by Sharon. “I Love You” was sung by a woman, both originally and on karaoke night.

3. The man who sang “Wild Ride” originally was not Mr. Brown. Gary, whose last name wasn’t Lambert, sang a song by Sammy, whose last name wasn’t Right.

4. Mr. Right originally sung the song that Ms. Belmont, whose first name wasn’t Tina, chose to sing.

5. “Never Again”, which wasn’t originally sung by Anette, was Richard’s karaoke choice. Wanda, whose last name isn’t Willow, sang Mark’s song.

6. The five songs are represented by: Richard, Ms. Stone, “Solitude”, Sara Rondell, “Wild Ride”.

2. Mr. Parson won the most expensive item, which was $100.

4. The Victorian lamp was won for $75, but Mark didn't win it.

5. Tom, whose last name isn't Welsh, won the $25 item. The $50 item was won by Ms. Smart.

6. Abigail didn't win the antique clock.
