I'm not very re-assured by the face masks.
They'll hold in most of your coughs and sneezes and keep out the large droplets from those nearby, but small droplets containing tiny virus particles will either go through them, or get in and out around the edges. They are more to re-assure those who don't know how small virus particles are, and how small a droplet of moisture will keep them viable while you inhale them..
A 40 foot pole may be more useful - keep that distance from anybody who may have it.

Very conveniently taken the spotlight off our Governments over the credit crunch too ;)

One thing to note for anyone now paranoid at every sneeze (this should make our now starting hayfever season fun) as far as I've heard the only people who have died from this have been those whose ethnicity is Mexican...everyone else has had a very mild case. Even the poor little girl who died in Texas was apparently a Mexican.

CANNES, France (EGMN) – If the government asks industry to start production today, September is the earliest a vaccine for swine flu could be developed, according to Klaus Stöhr, D.V.M., vice president and global head of Novartis Vaccines and Diagnostics Ltd. and former head of the World Health Organization’s Global Influenza Program.
