Just checked - it was five. Yes, they did deserve their spot, Sus! Good luck in the finals.

Rubbish only helped the margin - I saw the whole game at Norwood and you couldve kicked a bag that day mate! At most Welsh was only the difference between winning by 5 or 10 goals. The Eagles midifeld was all over Norwood's that day. Note that in Round 20 v Norwood the Eags won by 5 goals.

Well I was at Coopers that night and while he kicked a bag of goals most of his grabs were in packs that Oakley (from my vantage spot in the garndstand) had first grab of , they seemed to be payed to welsh because of the umpire .

Lets look at the EAGLES seconds side season from a fan who watched the majority of their games excluding 1 double header and the 2 league games I missed. The Eagles seconds were in an awful mess upto the Thebarton game which they drew and should have lost except of Port Adelaides woeful kicking at goal(15 points in 1 quarter) . What was the turning point in the season for them and Coach Macgowan the league team dropping players and players coming back from injury. The main player who had a major impact would be the former north adelaide forward Travis Oakley once he went to fullforward in the two's they had a focal point to kick at and kick goals .Oh and they had a few headaches when he was injured against Port at alberton . I should also add that with Frewen and hall in the backline and FLOREANI and others they make a pretty good two's team.

I watched the game that night, all of it. Welsh was the difference but as I have said before you have to wear that sometimes. Eagles won the next game but it was a very different Norwood team at that stage due to injuries but the Eagles did play well at Woodville Oval and we were outplayed.

If Welsh played for Norwood that night instead of the Eagles :?: :?: :?:

Whatever way I look at it the SANFL has been embarrassed.

That was a one off occasion bulldogproud one win didn't get us into the reserves finals series our form in the second half of the season did this. We deserve to be there we haven't been handed it on a golden platter. Now that we're there I might say we'll take some beating.

True, Welsh was only for one game. However, how many other Crow or Power players played for the Eagle reserves during the first thirteen rounds when they were bottom? Ian Perrie against Port at Alberton.......
Btw, am only baiting, guys. Glad to see the fish, errr, Eagles are biting - not as confident as I thought you would be! *grins*
Good luck in the finals though. I made the call from Round 15 that the Eags would win both the League and Reserves flags and am sticking to it.
Cheers!

The current rules are a mess.

My thoughts...

Crows/Power listed players play 7 regular games with their SANFL club (inc. byes).
This makes them eligible to play finals in the SANFL-
if the Crows & Power are still in the finals
if the Crows & Power are out of the finals

If the Crows & Power are in the finals, & they haven't played 7 regular season games (including byes), then they cannot play in the SANFL finals.

Simple & end of story imo.

Sounds good Punky.

The loophole that lets David Westbrook play Reserves this week should also be plugged.

Looking at the teams before the match and takling into account on who was in the Eagles team, very unfair/unlucky for Glenelg to come up against a side with so many players experienced at League and AFL level.

Eagles 6.4 13.4 18.7 26.10 (166)
Glenelg 1.1 2.4 4.7 7.8 (50)

Eagles had 14 goalscorers - Oakley kicked 5, Geddes 4, Skipworth, Earl, Vince, J.Stewart, Fitzgerald 2, McGregor, Jackman, Westbrook, P.Stewart, Spencer, Hicks, Salter 1.

It was a good training session for the Eagles... Not surprising to see a 20 goal win. Skipworth played well in the first half. McGregor didn't do much at CHF in the first half and then was switched to CHB and played well, just like last week. If McGregor does play league, I doubt it will be in the forward lines. Vince was good in the 2nd half. Didn't see much of the ball in the first half playing at half back. Westbrook showed enough to be ready for next week. Only Vince played a full game. The other three rotated off the bench. Good games by a number of players pushing league - Earl, Floreani, Salter, Spencer, Redden etc. Some real promising youngsters with plenty of pace and skill in Cody Hicks, Craig Fitzgerald and Jared Petrenko. Paul Stewart (34) looks a promising player as well. I doubt we'll see Dabrowski replacing Jacobs - Pederson looks to be the next ruckman in line at this stage if either Lindsay or Jacobs get injured. Hall was ok, but doubt he'll make league either with the form of Hier and Salter.

I hope Travis Oakley gets a full pre-season under his belt and really makes an effort for 2007 because he has the size and plenty of ability. He is well above reserves level.

Final score was something like 26-10 to 7-8.

he's in good enough form to be playing 1's now and in most other clubs would definately be a walk up start.

"needed a run" is a bit strong terminology to use. He only missed one game. If Eagles Reserves weren't playing this weekend, nobody would have complained that he didn't get a run.

That's what he thought when he was at North only to get the same result at a club with bugerall forwards a year later.
Oakley like many other players (Walton comes to mind from North) will always be the sort of guy that can play well in ressies but isn't good enough to step up to league.

He hasn't got the size or marking strength for a key position in the league and he hasn't got the mobility to be a flanker or a pocket.
He'll be forever in "twilight zone" unless he goes to Norwood where he would get a walk up start.
But so would I!

(cue Norwood supporters to tell me what happened at Prospect this year  )

I hate to admit this but after watching him this year I would agree with WEDGIE
it is a pity he can not play on a flank

Yeah, Im not bitter because he left us, I had the same feeling when he played for us.
He's just in that "in between zone" a lot of players get stuck in.

One of the best grabs for his height I've seen.
