Qualifying Final 2006: North v Central

All discussions to do with the SANFL

Postby BPBRB » Sun Sep 17, 2006 8:57 pm

North were shit and cannot stand up in big games when they need to. No excuses for soft insipid and mediocre performances from the 21 that took the field today. Well done Centrals too stong, experienced and well deserved. The final scoreboard flattered North in the end.

No plan B Jars - the team is playing like your coaching - one dimensional. Looks like a Tennis year for the NAFC - out in straight sets and another 4th finish. Don't worry about the players who were in or out at North - time for the coach to go I'm afraid.

Dogwatcher, Ivens, Koops, Hargraves and Ladhams were all missing today. To my memory, I think they all played two weeks ago. They had Gill today whilst he did not play two weeks ago. Additionally, Kriegy was able to play a full game.

Even taking in to account that Ivens, Koops, Hargraves and Ladhams were missing today, I have been saying this all year to anyway who is prepared to listen

YOU CAN NOT WIN FINALS BY PLAYING ONE WAY RUNNING SHOOT OUT STYLE OF FOOTY

Finals footy is about accountability, you need to have a strong defensive action, you just don't get the space and time to play North's style of footy

I know JARS is a man who like attractive shoot out footy but it does not win you a flag

Unfortunately as a player Jars was brillant one way, not accountable in his defensive action, and his side plays the same style of footy

Put Ivens, Koops, Hargraves and Ladhams back in the side, who cares, because they do not play finals winning footy

Jarman and the NAFC - Pathetic performance today BEFORE the ball was bounced, surely you have a responsibility to the public and your members to name a genuine side and not make 4 changes on the day of the game....people go to games to watch these types of players

I can't work this comment out, Hars can't even run, Koops couldn't even get on the training tack, Ladhams sprained his ankle and Ivens fracture a finger so bad it came out of the skin. Why does he have a responsibility to play these players?
I would have thought he had a responsibility not to play them?

Wedgie, the responsibility perhaps is more on not naming false sides. As you state, none of those players were ever a chance to play. Am pretty sure North will be fined for playing players who were not even named as emergencies. However, I see North's logic in doing this. Why tell your opponent your injuries ahead of time? Is it time that fines were cancelled for naming false sides in finals?
Cheers!

Ahh fair enough, that makes sense.
Hargs and Koops were never going to play where Ladhams only got injured on Friday night and Ivens and Coulter were 50/50s.
We actually had a first gamer play today in Josh Cubillo.
The worst side we've put out on the park, even worse than early in the season when we were struck by injuries.

Having said that its certainly no excuse, who knows, if we'd played the proppy players we might have lost by even more.
The scoreboard flattered North in the end, Central were a better than 10 goal better side today.

Well done Dogs and well done Dogs fans today, only trouble I saw in the crowd today was a feral North supporter.
Im off to bed to try and get rid of this heat stroke induced headache.
Cyas tomorrow.

Have you only just started watching football.

Why give the opposition a sniff about the inhouse injuries.

Bugger me, there are alot of uneducated people out there.

you cant hide things in finals, as North found out today - centrals prepare for those players being IN, find a weaker line up, get confidence about that and smash you...

Thank goodness it's September again. Ladies & Gentlemen, you will be relieved to hear that normal transmission has resumed.
Seriously though- are the Dogs still the best Finals unit going around or were they made to look good by an under par North performance? Next week will tell. I have a feeling we will need to win next week and get the rest if we are to be cherry ripe for a GF performance.
By the way - How many games out of Koops, Alleway & Weatherley this year? No doubting these Guy's ability but how much research was done on their fitness history??
:D
Players win touches, Teams win matches, Clubs win Premierships.

Yes you can doubt the fitness of Koops and Cox before they were signed, although Cox was noted to be ubfit and was going to be held back more for 2007 as the NAFC knew he had a knee complaint.

How can you question Alleway and Weatherley's fitness as they both went down with ankle injuries that required surgery.

Then there was Walker who did his neck in and wore a brace for 1/2 the season.

North have done well this year with all the injuries they have had this year.
