Especially when there was Salter, Passador (before injured) and the uncertainty of what Burton could do.

I didn't understand this either. Even though it was 16 shots to 4, I thought with long and direct footy we could be back in it.

I thought on the balance of play we were behind, but still well in the game at quarter time.

There was a reasonable breeze. I expected you'd come back and be within 3 goals at 1/2 time...

Great run and carry and disposal by hand and foot today by the DB's, impressive when we get it together.

And to kick 4-4 to 1-2 into it was a credit to your team, perhaps the best thing the coaching staff could take out of the game. But certainly helped by our style of play

Don't think that's not at the back of every Sturt supporter's mind. It's great we've got the WWT monkey off our backs recently but the Bays and to a lesser extent North have jumped right back on. No doubt that our best is very good though.

9.7 to 3.1 is still in it? Geez... I'm obviously out of touch with what "in it" is these days...

I think the only positive to come out of the game is that we'll probably have Burton for another week so he can qualify to play finals.

The pressure applied on Sturt during the first half was almost non-existant and they took full advantage. The effort improved in the second-half but the game was well gone by then and I think Sturt took their foot of the pedal. I can't believe we lost by only 56 points.

On a separate issue, the scoreboard attendant left a lot to be desired - at one stage placing an Eagles point onto Sturt's score (understandable given that Sturt was doing most of the scoring but we needed every little point we could get), but also not a single update on the other game being played. What happens when all four games are played on the same day?

Yeah no idea what was going on there... personally, I was hoping it just meant it was 0.0 to 0.0 in a tight tussle at Richmond, but the actual result was even better than that. Maybe the scoreboard guy just didn't believe what he was hearing? :-)

serious question ... IF the Eagles make the finals & the Birdbrain is qualified , do you think the Crows will let him play, assuming they are already done for the year ?

possibly, they have some tough decisions to make with their over 30's players and it would give them a chance to see him play a bit more

All depends on who Torrens meet in the Elimination. I might be jumping the gun, but the top three is looking secure to me.

Assuming no one is playing Sturt in the Elimination Final, which is like getting a free pass these days to the semis since we're so crap at them, Torrens could be out in week one. North would be tough, West, well you wouldn't want to underestimate them.

At least you didn't pull a Freo... 1.7... what the hell was that?

They would have faired better forfeiting 10.0 to nothing, go on a tour of the Crows clubrooms and go home rested. Geez, what a shocker...

Do I need to say that a 42 point quarter time deficit has been overcome to win 18 times before? Even though there has been 239 such occasions where a side leads by 42 or more at quarter time, that's still 7.5%. ;)

Disappointing performance from the guys yesterday, think the game was over about halfway through the first quarter. Very similar to last time against the ball got out of the middle and into Sturts forward line to quickly and too easily.

Thought Salter was by far the best of the Eagles, Broadbent & Cicca tried hard as did Redden who rucked for the majority of the day while Dabrowski was on the sidelines, the rest of the guys seemed to be second guessing themselves including the usually unflappable Mark McKenzie.

Will be interesting what happens with Burton, certainaly didnt have a good day today but came through it OK by the look of it and for his sake that is probably a good result.

Interesting that 9 goals were scored in the first qtr of both the league and reserves today and both games were over by half time...if not qtr time. Amazing result in the twos considering the 2 sides were 1st and 2nd and Sturt had a convincing win last week, but today just weren't in the game at all...For the Sturt fans...were there massive changes in the twos???
Trust the process.

I wont say much and I wont bag Ron ,this time .
Looks like Passador is injured again .
Too many times Eagles went forward and kicked the ball to Passador surrounded by 3 sturt defenders .why where were the three unmarked eagles players!!!
We couldn't man up to save our selves !!!
Why was Burton played on the wing ?
Why was Cheep started up forward when he has played good footy on the wing the last 2 weeks.
Why was Goldsworthy started on the bench came on and either kicked or helped kicking a goal .
Why was one older player (and I am a fan of his) and one younger afl listed youngster(not one of the bigger name south aussie lads) standing by themsleves and talking in the last term when their sturt opponents were running forward and getting the ball.
And why were sturt fans cheering their seconds side and urging them on to a 16 goal loss? They didnt get any better as the day wore on ;)
Why does unley have so many stairs damn I almost went head over heels escaping umm I mean leaving after the game ended
A Positive sign Redden in my eyes has become the number 1 ruckman .He alone was winning taps they didnt always go to eagles players but he was winning .
And in hindsight perhaps the majority or the reserves side should have played league, even the under 18's that were playing .For me the reserves play a better attacking style of footy .
But the eagles were Crap they played Crap footy and played as individuals not as a team.
Ron needs to do something on the track this week
