Which SANFL Logo Would You Prefer ?

Postby Ian » Tue Oct 10, 2006 11:20 pm

I thought I'd stick up a poll on the logo subject as it seems to have created a bit of interest. Who knows, maybe the SANFL might even read it and take note.

That revamped one was intended as a joke! Adding a little lens flare and drop shadow is a cliche that companies do to give the impression they are cutting edge - think how Microsoft tweak their Internet Explorer icon ever so slightly with each update. For what it's worth I prefer the current one by miles

I went old one revamped. Keep the original magpie/crow birdy thing but revamp SANFL to be a bit more modern.

It's called a Piping Srike or something like that, same family of bird.

Way too close to a magpie for my liking

I liked someone else's suggestion about updating the old one with a stylised Sturt's Desert Pea. You could interchange the black 'pea' bit with a footy. Would look cool, except I don't know how you could do it different to BankSA's logo

I forgot about that one, but IMHO the old one with the wreath looks better, and still incorporates the Blue/Gold/Red, where as this one is Gold/Black/Red, with no blue.

The old one without the N, the SAFL is not as 'national' league!

That would be the Piping Shrike M96,

The Piping Shrike has been the official badge of the South Australian Government since 1901. The state emblem generates pride and affection. Governor Tennyson in his dispatch to the Secretary of State for the Colonies said 'I herewith forward a flag with the new device upon it - the South Australian Shrike in the rising sun of the Commonwealth and hope that as it is a fine design and one which has been favourably received here

It doesnt say anything about being a national league.
It's national football.
Probably even more apt now with some dodgy sports like soccer trying to claim the name 'football'.

lmao at the lens flare...

after a few years of logo upgrades, looking at the sanfl logo will be like staring at the sun, possible only during a "lens flare eclipse"

Yeah either the very old one or the new version.
The current version looks like it belongs on those god awful white state guernseys.
Very late 70s/80s ish. :?
