rib guards or padding?

Postby hearts on fire » Thu Apr 15, 2010 3:12 pm

I am looking at some protection for my ribs after having a lung operation last year........

anyone know of any rib guards or padding to prevent pain when getting knocked or any other ideas that will stop it getting knocked?

Try a cricket thigh pad strapped on, with soft padding between the pad and the ribs.

yeah I would try a standard off the shelf chest guard and tape it to your torso so it won't move. No idea where you would get one this time of year though.

I have used a thigh guard before in a game of footy copped a massive corky the week before and the bruising was still visible a week later

Bloke who plays for us cracked ribs last season or season before
he used a protective thing, was made for a lacross player, just an off the shelf item
may need to tape it in player as it moved a little and was a lil uncomfortable
would be better then a thigh pad and chest guard from cricket though!
has straps that go over ya shoulder to hold it in player better then the cricket ones do
get on board the thunder train!!!

Go to Clarks Rubber and buy some foam and tape it to your body, you'll look like the Michelin Man but it works
Always behind the 8 ball

One of our league players wears foam with tape (Not for a rib injury though ) and it seems to work. But, as your condition is medical, get the best you can. Broken/cracked ribs really hurt and take a long time to heal.
