heccies- yes can make the GF, virtually the whole team hadnt ever played senior finals b4 this yr. good learning experience for them. will definitely finish in top3 at end of minor round.
hope valley- had a solid yr but didnt come to play in finals, need to play some more young kids- didnt see much youth their this yr. shud be around the mark again- 3rd or 4th.
lockleys- unlike hope valley played a lot of kids last yr, which will only help them next season. but do lack a couple of experienced players. will finish 4th or 5th?
west croydon- not much depth, if a couple of there guns e.g. bryant or woodcock get injured they r stuffed. will finish 5th-6th.
westminster- think they played some good footy but lost a lot of close games. shud improve in 08. may sneak in to the five.
houghton- bunch of inbreds. 1 or 2 good players but thats about it. will win games at home but arent good away from that terrible oval. 8th or 9th.
glenunga- will struggle again this yr, pretty much their whole side is in their 30's and have no depth what so ever. 6th or 7th.
brahma lodge- have good group of older guts but depending on how they recruit could decide their fate. shud make finals.
CLG- shud finish top two again with some of the players they have. will be interesting to see if they hang around or if clg recruit some more players.
trinity- dont know much about them. scott roo shud be able to fill us in.

trinity are young and quick...really think they may struggle though

we have retained all our players(signed) and have recruited a few more

dont bank on glenunga not being up to it..plenty of 30 y/olds can still play and on their small oval it dont matter..also have an ability to recruit very well and so does brahma lodge..clg, remains to be seen how good the div 7 comp was..heccies will be the team to beat

Glenunga have the ability to recruit and recruit well, they have done it in the past and they are due for it again. Not to mention they have a full forward with whom has the ability to kick 100 goals if he has a good midfield to get the ball to him.......

Hope Valley will be looking to build on last years season and disappointing result in the 1st semi final against heccies. We will retain most of our current list and should pick up a few like we always do. It was charlie's first year as coach and we had as many as 8 new players playing A grade so I thought we went pretty well considering it does take time to gel. We will be aiming to make the five again (obviously) and looking to improve on finishing 4th this year.

Hectorville, CLG, Brahma Lodge will finish up there and expect Houghton to recruit heavily with their new coach prepared to throw a bit of money around. Westminster will improve, West Croydon lack depth but can beat anyone on their day. Not sure how Trininty will go, and Glenunga should be around the mark (only going on what GG and Heccies did this year after being relegated from div 5). Expect Lockleys to push for the five with some good young players coming on. I think it will be a really even competition and the order of the five will only be decided in the last minor round game

Doubt it. They always seem to have the same guys playing for them. Never any major ins or outs. Might lose sum after a dissapointing year. They normally make the 5 but this year they only just survived relegation.

Division 6 2008

Postby S Demon » Wed Oct 24, 2007 12:23 pm

Looking forward to another close year in Division 6. Thought I'd get the ball rolling with a poll for 2008. We know most people vote for their own team, but it seemed to work well this year (thanks cj)

I've changed the title to "SAAFL Div 6 2008", & we'll have all other grades under similar titles, for uniformity.
Cheers,
PR

Both A and B grade coaches re-signed for 2008 towards the end of 2007 season at Hope Valley. Charlie Wintle will head up the coaching staff and the very 'sucksessful' Dean Anderson will again lead the B grade for I think the fifth season on a row. Both great coaches and great reappointments for the club.
