Good Movies

Postby JK » Thu Dec 06, 2007 10:52 am

Seems the ratio of crap:good movies increases every year ... From memory the most enjoyable I've seen this year were The Departed, Running Scared, The Big Nothing, Blood Diamond.

Anyone get any recommendations for good movies in the action, thriller, suspense mould ... Or even a good comedy (actually saw Knocked Up and Superbad too and didn't mind them)?

I saw Blood Diamond the other night. Good movie. To follow the African theme, The Last King of Scotland is worth seeing - about Idi Amin and Uganda.

The Zodiac was the only movie I saw this year, but yeah, it was brilliant.

Cheers for that list Pup ... I must admit I'd forgotten about the Bourne Ultimatum which I found as enjoyable as any movie I've seen in ages.

Watched We are Marshall on DVD last night and enjoyed it, but I do like sport themed movies.

Agree on the Departed and Blood Diamond, both great films.

One I saw at the movies was The Good Shepherd, I liked it but the missus couldn't follow and thought it was too long. Good thriller.

Rocky Balboa was fantastic. Watched it so many times I haven't had a chance to see many others. I first watched it last year but it didn't hit the cinemas here till this year so technically it sneaks in.

Agreed with others that Blood Diamond was good.

Ratatouille

Wasn't that film a little gem? Went kicking and screaming to that one but I absolutely loved it! Best of its kind.

Thought 'Control', the Ian Curtis flick was pretty good recently.

Have to agree Wedgie, I was pretty skeptical when Rocky Balboa was coming out. I have to say it suprised me. It was fantastic with a good story and theme.

I loved it.

Last King of Scotland, Knocked Up, Blood Diamond, Casino Royal are other noteworthy films.
I must say though it has not been a great few years of cinema.....I think HOLLYWOOD is running out of ideas hence all the remakes.....
Is out of change.....thanks Cambridge Clarrie!!!

Watched Twins the other night with Arnie and Danny Di Veto. According to the credits, the guitarist who played in the band, in the scene where the twins went dancing with the sisters, was Jeff Beck.
