I know it's childish, but I've been editing work for a Professor Fartmann, which cracked me up initially, and now I've seen that he's quoted an 'A. Assmann' in his paper and I've just lost my s***.

And for the hat trick Prof. Fartmann is writing about weird objects surgically removed from the rectum ;)

I'm glad he isn't, or I'd have to send that one into imgur and then I'd lose my job. He was writing about beetles instead.

Oh man. Actually, I don't mind his work - I'd be happy to work as his personal editor. He makes the dung beetles sound interesting, and I rarely get to edit anything interesting. Researchers have a real talent for being boring, I've learnt. :-( Plus I stupidly told my superiors that I had experience editing for medical journals, so every other job I've had this week has been a medical paper on treatments for incontinence, except for one paper that described a patient with a cholesteatoma. Don't do an image search for that one.
