It doesn't set any precedent.

Allowing gay marriage won't have any legal effect on polygamy, incest or bestiality. They are separate areas of law.

Its already happened as I pointed out earlier...

No it hasn't. Man has been allowed to marry woman forever, that was the precedent, allowing or sanctioning or authorising any legally binding wedlock was the precedent.

Just out of interest, what are your views on gay people in general, regardless if they can get married or not. Are you against gay relationships, or do you think they should be viewed as the same as a straight relationship and tolerated?

If you've said all this in another thread, whats it called, so I can have a look-see.

Also, if you want to argue the slippery slope, then it starts at allowing marriage full stop. By logic, your argument that a man and woman can get married sets precedent for any other type of marriage.

Then saying that means that all law is then liable for being abolished and we would live in utter chaos...

Human nature is to push the boundaries and once someone else gets it changed then 'hey I might as well push my case too' because that is the mentality.

If I'm wrong then I'll shut up but just wait and see...

I feel like Noah right now. The rain is coming people!!!

You still don't get it. They are separate arguments. If the time comes to debate, say polygamy, then so be it, but it gets debated on it's own merits.

People are people and they have the right to choose whatever lifestyle they like. I have friends that are gay, they know I dont agree with their lifestyle and they often dont agree with mine but I dont treat them any differently.

Ok, so if they are in a relationship for 35 years, and one of them passes away, do you think the other one should be entitled to the same security as a straight married couple? Or should they receive nothing, and be effected financially as well as emotionally?

Should they be treated differently in the eyes of the law?

So you go out of your way to tell your friends you don't agree with their lifestyle? That's incredibly rude

Lawyered

Speaking of polygamy, interested to see what NG thinks of that, given it was allowed in the bible.

(Tbh I don't think it's really an issue but that's beside the point)

Polygamy is not a question of if you're allowed to, it's why the **** do you want to?

I'm still picturing Optimus Prime marrying a couple...

Polygamy is its own punishment. 2 wives = 2 mothers in law.

I think that is where your problem is, its not a lifestyle its not like people wake up in the morning and decide I feel like being straight or gay etc
