State Banner

Postby Wedgie » Thu May 15, 2008 12:25 pm

The person who organises the North banners rang me today asking if I could put our feelers for people who may want to help make the State Banner, looks like someone's contacted North to help do it since we have larger poles than most as well as the experience behind the best banners in the state.
Im personally not that interested but if people could give an idea here if they'd be willing to help out for a few hours on either Thursday or Friday night at Prospect then we'll see if its worth organising, small incentives such as tickets to the game may be handed out.

Hey Wedgie,

I'm happy to lend a hand with the banner...

Will be a good way to meet fellow posters and will bring back some good old memories when I used to help with the Doggies banners for some of our earlier Grand Finals as a 15, 16 year old.

Let me know the specific dates and times and I'm sure I can lend a hand. I was always going to go to the game and would be happy to possibly get a free ticket and help hold it up on the day of the game.

Cheers Mate,

Big Phil...

How about:

"If we kick a vic we'd have no players left"

and on the back;

"Just because we're mostly Victorian,
Doesn't mean we're not South Australian"

Crikey, who contacted the North club asking them to organise it then?
Perhaps find out Sam, as the SANFL might have contacted North direct, I can advise the people asked at North to organise it that their time isn't required, they'll be very happy.

At the top the SANFL logo...

"Pride and passion
NEVER
go out of fashion"

On the back

"For bragging rights,
not TV rights"
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.

Mrs Wedgie's and my daughter have done it a few times, the trick is to either have a person who's good at designing stuff like that to have them pre drawn or Ive heard other clubs have purchased letters from a business.
But I agree with what I think you're getting at, it looks great but less letters is the way to go, sometimes more effective too. Perhaps with a yellow and blue vee either side of the words to fill some space.

The one against WA had about the same amount of letters as side two plus two more sentences on the back. Maybe if they just use side two and put a smaller slogan on the back.
ARRIVE... RAISE HELL... LEAVE.

If you want less letters and just as much imapct, I'd opt for the following suggestion:

"This is NOT an exhibition match.
The red guernsey will prevail" (Or "The mighty SA will prevail")

and on the other side

"Pride and Passion
NEVER
Go out of fashion"

Credit to Squawk and Booney. :)

Spoke to the lady who took the phone call during the week, the SANFL are organising the banner making at Prospect and will free tickets will most likely be included for the match for those involved, will be happening on either the Thursday or Friday before the game. All materials, etc will be provided.
Good luck to all those involved.
