Getting my ATO tax assessment reduced, on review, on a technicality or two.

Glad you appreciate the privilege... ;)
But, seriously, it was just a matter of getting the law applied correctly - no cheating involved at my end.

No worrying for me, I don't even keep books.
I have copies of all statements sent directly to my accountant in Melbourne , or email those that come to me as they arrive.
Then when he requests it I type, and email to him, a list of the expenditure from my various cheque book stubs.

The tax assessment was issued, and my accountant found the ATO's error.
$10k legally and legitimately staying in my pocket as it should in those circumstances.

That "90%" may be a slight exaggeration.

Even if it is near the mark that doesn't make it "worry" or stress, or anything negative.
It is simply one of my hobbies/interests.

I've always been interested in business and investment, although not enough to make it my main career.
I turned down an opportunity to move into banking as a career in favour of Medicine - my brother-in-law was a high level bank executive who would have got me a good start in that industry, but my main interests were elsewhere.

I also grew up with my older sister in real estate, and used to go in with her and help out in the office, when I was about 12 or so, just because I enjoyed it.

PS: Is there some personal reason my interest in finance bothers you?

Yes, it keeps all the records in one place for me and in one action, and enables statement copies to go directly to my accountant in Melbourne under the name of each of my business activities - as medical practitioner, Super fund manager, my (semi-active only) computer dealership, and property investor.

One off direct transfers take more time to process and depend on you always being somewhere where you have reliable Internet access, and direct debits to bank accounts or credit cards need to be checked on regularly for errors or fraud.

Family coming down with gastro. :vom: =D>

Normally I would be most unthrilled by this, but you see, if everyone's projectile vomiting, we can't go to the footy. Owing to recent events of complete idiocy, our club made the national news, and I'm 100% certain the media will be at the game tomorrow. The score will not be any different from last week's, but with the coach gone, the journos will point the finger at the bloke standing the full-forward, which would be Mr McSpaz with his broken hand and f***ed back. I'm not worried about his ability to play, but I'm not at all sure I wouldn't punch a reporter if they harped on about how many goals got kicked against him.

If only. I was sick on my cat's tail, however. He insisted on following me into the bathroom and waved his tail in front of my face. He is not the brightest animal that ever was. I had to wash him under the tap. :?
