I think it is a great rule and should be there to stay. What does it matter if the association doesn't field its strongest side. To me the whole point of association footy is to give the youngsters (under 28) exposure to a higher level of footy. Nobody remembers 2 weeks after the event who won or what the scores were.

From the Tigers I would be surprised if anyone other than Pym, Hood, Beard (U21) and maybe Shimmin made the squad.

I agree the rule is a good one.

I'd argue though that there are plenty of players who remember some good weekends and winning the comp. There are also some who remember years earlier when we got smashed with C Grade teams and when no-one wanted to play.

Possible team line up with rules (And Form) as they are:

FF - Dawson Nikolus Feeley
HF - Allmond Hardiman Howell
C - Pym Stribling Robertson
HB - Earl O'Brien Birchmore
FB - Pearson Mark Clements
RK - Dowdell Montgomery Seccafien
INT - Hood Greenshields Michael T.Leighton

Obviously the squad might be bigger, but good representation by most clubs.

Tried to avoid just loading up on good midfielders playing out of position

Thoughts???

Explains why they have so much cash to splash on players. Don't all the A grade get some sort of payment?
$200 a registered player will buy a few $1000 a game participants.

Ace, I got told it includes Club membership which has entry to home games and/or tea vouchers or something like that.

Hotspur, know your lads have never played for nothing, something about a pot and kettle springs to mind!

Mate 40 x 200 = $8000. Enough for 1 $1000 a game player for half a year.

I think it said a couple games free entry if you paid on time perhaps. It made our lads appreciate the $70 subs in any case!

$70 is probably the cheapest I've ever heard.

That $70 bucks should make us appreciate our $55 subs then!

A cheap kettle! Kapunda pay players, especially locals? $1000 is their budget for a season. So never payed for nothing - get your facts straight.

I guess you can see it being a catch 22 type situation.

Hike the fees for juniors and seniors in the hope they can use a big chunk of that money to sign some quality players (obviously sponsor $$$ assist also).
However, at such high prices, I can also see why there was just 11 players in the senior colts at Hamley on Saturday.

I reckon $200 is the lower end of the scale for city clubs. What are the subs supposed to cover?

Pretty standard stuff covered really. League registration fees, insurance, strapping/medical supplies, power for lights and so on...

Some more expensive subs could obviously contribute to more things of course.

That's what I thought, $200/player might barely cover half a season

Would it be a fair ask for higher subs, say 250 and return a percentage of this back to boost best player incentives
