Great way to start the long weekend (having 39 points helps 8)).

Finally, after getting dicked around by one lot of customers, get my second round in this Friday.

Should be perfect, 28°, hardly any wind, now I just need them not to cancel on me....AGAIN!

Last chance as I have to use the vouchers this week.

Went and played Nuriootpa on Sunday.

Shot 93, which is very good for me, especially given I couldnt hit the driver at all, and I missed probably 5 putts inside 6 feet. The 3 wood was going great guns off the tee, and my short irons were also going well. Still cant beat little bro though, he shot 92.

Good stuff. A course I have not played. Is it worth the drive for me (1.5 hours) to have a game? Can you get on the course, easily on a Sunday? Do you know what the $$ is for green fees mate?

The Vines had a pretty good membership offer.

It was $550 and gives you "100 credits" to use. Saturday comp day are 10 credits, other 18 hole comp days are 7 credits. Any other day its 5 credits for 18 holes or 3 credits for 9 holes.

So, if you played 18 holes on non comp days you could play 20 rounds for $550 with nothing more to pay. $27.50 per round. I reakon that's great value for that course of that quality.

Yep that is a decent deal, for that quality of golf course....only problem is..... it's all the way "down south"....if I were a local, I'd be into that

Yeah I am 40-45 minutes from the expressway. Getting there is not my concern, its the drive home after golf, and a couple of frothies. Not that we should be doing that anyway, but, well.... you know!

You can easily get on on a sunday. Never seen more than 10-15 cars there. Green fees were $30

Course quality is pretty decent. Very few of the holes actually run adjacent to another, so it feels like you are in the middle of nowhere on every hole. makes for a very relaxing round.

I would say the course is a level below the very best courses in the region, (i.e Tanunda and Gawler) but the green fees are great value.

As for travelling 1.5 hours, definitely worth it for something different, but if somewhere like the vines was closer to me i would play there instead

forgot to mention - take a few extra balls, or hit very straight :D

The course is quite easy if you keep it on the short stuff, as it isnt overly long, but most holes have scrub on both sides so if you slice it more than 10m off the fairway you are in real trouble

Will do - sounds like it is worth the drive (in the car) I like a challenge. The Mount Compass course used to be a bit like that. Last time I was down there they had curt the rough back heaps so if you missed fairway, you had some chance of finding it at least.

I played there years ago, must be 15 years ago and it was torture. Must have lost 10 or more balls, barely hit a green, shot over 120 and had the worst day of my life on the course there.

Fair to say, I haven't been back.

My first trip to Mt Compass was a pennants match, probably 15 years ago as well... I had heard horror stories of how tough it was etc. Can't recall how many balls I went through. I do recall getting there extra early, playing 6 "warm up" holes. Then my match which was all square after 18 holes, then had to play 2 extra (sudden death) holes, which I eventually lost. So all up I played 26 holes for the day, and was totally rooted.... It's not a flat course either!

I played Mt Compass, Lady Bay and Victor Harbor in a three week stretch between jobs way back when, it nearly made me give the game away.

Love the greens down at Victor - great to putt on, very true. My only problem is, generally I have run out of shots by the time I get onto the bloody things.

Hoping to get out for a range hit on Tuesday to dust off the cobwebs and then hopefully fit in a round Friday arvo.

so I've spent a fair chunk of today just daydreaming about being able to hit a ball around and get paid for it.

Even if it means hitting quadruple bogies to choke down the stretch
