Chopped my way around Willunga yesterday in a pennant match.

Played 3 holes as a warm up and went par (with chip in from greenside bunker), bogey, par. Hit them well, couldn't wait for my match to start....

Then I took the gas, lost the first hole, the one that I made par on not 30 minutes earlier, won the next 2 holes to get in front. The match then swayed from 2 up my way back to 1, then back to 2. Made the half way turn 1 up. Strung a few good holes together to stretch the lead to 3 up, and should have closed the bloke out, on the 14th hole after hitting good drive, but stuffed my second shot badly into the crap. Took me another 2 holes to close him out 2/1.

Course is pretty good order, a few patchy fairways, but the green were excellent.... and quick. Putting is my Achilles heel, and I struggled on them. Some very subtle breaks. Bunkers in good nick. Not sure what green fees are, but if you are down that way, its a pleasant track. Some huge greens out there, so 3 putts very possible.

Some scuttle about that the local council (who own the course) are looking to sell off 9 holes for residential development. This would make it a 9 hole course. Not sure how true that is, but it would be a shame.

Nice course Willing
Quite tight some fairways.
Been a lot of talk about council plans for a while now.
Membership is quite reasonable also down there.

And well played Corona

No, not really. Played better on Saturday actually. Correct some tight fairways, hit a few irons (from the tee), and the hybrid a few times just trying to keep it in play. Didn't work that well to be honest.

Yeah I did, so I am happy with that MT. The post was as much about the potential sell off of the course. Tragic if that were to happen.

Holden Scramble on Sunday at Waikerie. Should be a good day on the gas. Our group ranges from 6 to around 16 handicap. Problem with days like this, is there is always some dodgey group with a ridiculous handicap who have some bullshit score and they have no shame in cheating whatsoever. Either way, it will still be a good day anyway.
So you've seen everything have you?
Yep
Have you ever seen a man eat his own head?
No
Well you haven't seen everything then have you.

Yep I tend to agree with you BC. Good day out with the boys, but the burglars are rife at these events. Good track Waikerie, so I am told, not played there. Enjoy the day.

Stroke play Sunday
I feel a score just over 100 is on the cards.
I told the old fellas I played with last time that I have gone around 84 & they said, net 51...that's a bit cheeky....

If you get in the shit with a stroke round - Take your medicine and chip your way out of trouble sacrificing distance, heck go backwards if you have to if it is the safest option of getting in the middle of the cut stuff.

Snuck a round up at Royal Pines while on holiday on the Goldy. Managed an 84 with an 8 and a 7, so was pretty stoked. I would have taken that hire set home if I could have, particularly the driver (Titleist) and the Odyssey putter, both of which were super.

Played with some fellas who could seriously hit the ball which helped I reckon.

Also played using one of those laser rangefinders. Always thought they were pretty poxy, but gees they help when the greens are so big.

Nice Work MG. Played there once myself, plenty of trouble at Royal Pines, was a while ago, but I recall drowning a few balls.

84 is good shooting. Agree on the rangefinders, some big green can be 3 clubs deep. I use a gps, the times it really comes in handy is when you have smacked on out on the next fairway (or even 2 fairways over) 0takes a lot of guess work out of it.

Yeah 2 drowned, not too bad considering the potential to lose multiple balls!

Went round at North Haven yesterday afternoon, just a casual 9 in preparation for another round at The Vines this Friday.

Went ok yesterday, 43 for the 9, left 3 putts out there and duffed a chip that I double hit as the club came through, glad nobody was watching. :D Hit behind the ball, topped the ball and as it squirted out I got it again. Not sure how I did it, if I could re-do it you'd see it on Youtube.

Drove well, which hopefully I do again Friday as The Vines is rough if you don't get going from the tee.
