Went out wide for Snapper yesterday, waste of time. Baits getting stripped by tiny fish. Couple of Dog sharks. Pulled the pin, moved in closer and nailed 15 whiting in quick time. Not as big as last time, but still plenty of them.

Many of the favourite spots have whiting from now till early August, still some good weather to be had till end of June.

Yeah, there have been some awesome days weather wise. I find for about the next month or so the sizes are good, but once everyone picks through the bigger ones in the schools, you end up having a lot of throwbacks towards August.

Driving the EP in October, and will pack a fishing rod and some gear.

Never really fished in the sea. Will fish off jetties id say.

What gear do I need? Any particular hooks, floats, Jigs, lines?

Just spent two windy arse days at Ardrossan for two tommies and one squid, from the jetty.

Then on the Sunday high tide picked up 22 nice Salmon trout from the jetty after talking to the neighbour of the house we stayed in. 5th lightpole, hightide, prawns. Was good fun with a couple over 35cm's.

Hardly any blueys, no gar, a few yellow fin and what I got was pretty much all I saw for the weekend. Rakers were having more luck on the low tide.

Brighton thick with them I hear.

Going to pull a sicky this week or early next and get out in the old mans* boat.

*While talking about my old man, he is running a campaign to lower the take rate of commercial fishing of blue swimmers by professional fishers.

He has about 7000 signatures on this petition and will present it to PIRSA just before Christmas.

What is his target, in terms of % of the current quota? They reduced it by 20% this year, but last years catches didn't get within even the revised quota.

We caught 32 in an hour out in the boat at Webbs Beach on Saturday. Seems to be a few more around at the moment up northern GSV

Won't change the commercial fishing limits now. Not when they have their super crab boats operating.
