40 for sections 2 through 6?

Seriously we have to look after peoples health here. A lot of players who dont play section 1 dont have the fitness to play in 42 (myself included) hell I know some players in section 1 who dont have the fitness.

Bring on the cricket season, any news on new players at all section clubs, what about the new side thats meant to be coming into section 1?

We don't miss out on much cricket because of the policy being 40 degrees and frankly because you play section 1 doesn't mean you are fitter and you do play an extra 15 overs. Playing 75 overs in 41 degree heat wouldn't be fun and that is what our level of cricket is all about having some fun with your mates.

There are also the umpires health and safety to consider, plus it makes it harder to recruit umpires when we make em work in 42C.

Special Match Rule 9 Excessively Hot Weather be replaced by

9. (a) Minor Round
Play will be abandoned on any day where the forecast maximum temperature as provided by the Bureau of Meteorology and broadcast by radio stations for the Adelaide City region at 9:00 a.m. is 40 degrees or higher.

(b) Finals
Play will be abandoned on any day where the forecast maximum temperature as provided by the Bureau of Meteorology and broadcast by radio stations for the Adelaide City region at 9:00 a.m. is 43 degrees or higher. Where on the Saturday morning of the final the Bureau of Meteorology forecasts a maximum temperature of 40, 41 or 42 degrees for the Saturday or Sunday the number of overs to be bowled will be reduced by 10 overs for each day to allow for drinks to be taken at intervals of 10 overs.

We have heard about the South Coasters, but where are the other new team from the Adelaide Indians?

Not sure but i think some of them are from our lower grades. They rung us, this week, asking to use the Youth Centre as their home ground so i am not sure how prepared they are to enter the comp this year. I am very surprised to see one of their sides starting in section 2 and the south coasters in section 3.

That is the most ridiculous proposal I have ever,ever seen.

I think its more Sharks having soar grapes over the Semi a few years ago when the posted 240 odd not play the next day and we put 230 against there Bs and they were pissed saying they'd chase that down easy but anyways I think they just want to change rules to suit them wait till next year "top side cant lose a GF rule"

You may be right TL next year we may see that from them .

I would like to see an extra one dayer in section 1, or play a week longer, perhaps one less week off over christmas, so that our finals can be a 1v2 for a spot in the GF and 3v4 to play the loser of 1v2 in a preliminary final as i feel there isn't enough of a advantage for finishing 1st or 2nd, home ground isn't an advantage IMHO. Not sure what others think but it would be interesting to get others thoughts.

Another idea... you could do that just for section 1.... have the sect 1 grand final with no other games played... then you may get a really decent crowd to the game
