He wants to buy time Warner, but as part of that deal the media ownership laws wouldn't allow him to have both fox and CNN (part of time Warner) so he was going to have to sell CNN

Obama is the fourth successive US president to launch some sort of military action in Iraq. That's pretty amazing/crazy when you think about it

After legal threats Crikey has agreed to destroy leaked accounts of News Corp's Australian newspapers:

Online news site Crikey has responded to legal threats by agreeing to destroy leaked accounts indicating a steep decline in News Corporation's Australian newspaper business.

Crikey published what the Rupert Murdoch company calls internally "the blue book", the company's operating accounts for all its businesses.

The documents, which date from last year, show News Corp's print and digital publications were suffering from large falls in revenue, with flagship paper The Australian losing $27 million.

Late on Thursday afternoon Crikey removed hundreds of pages of the documents.

News Corp's chief executive Julian Clarke has dismissed the revelations as "yesterday's news".

I guess Rupert Murdoch really does decide what is and isn't news.

A friend sent me this recently.
I don't know how accurate it is, or was when first written, but it does make me wonder...

This group’s history will open your eyes...
36 have been accused of spouse abuse
7 have been arrested for fraud
19 have been accused of writing bad cheques
117 have directly or indirectly bankrupted at least 2 businesses
3 have done time for assault
71, repeat 71 cannot get a credit card due to bad credit
14 have been arrested on drug-related charges
8 have been arrested for shoplifting
21 currently are defendants in lawsuits and
84 have been arrested for drunk driving in the last year.

Can you guess which organization this is? AFL? NRL?
It's neither, it's the 535 members of the AUSTRALIAN PARLIAMENT in CANBERRA
The same group of that crank out hundreds of new laws each year, designed to keep the rest of us in line.

quite clearly rubbish - just one of those things that has been adapted from an american bullshit email

84 arrested for drink driving? there are only 224 parliamentarians including the senate, so a third of all members have been arrested in the last year for drink driving, and an email is where we hear about it first?
