Grand final rematch this week for under 14's at Reynella. Should be a good contest with both sides undefeated.
Love these junior rivalries, hopefully still going when they hit senior footy. Both sides have some real talent, good team work and well coached.

14's looks like a 4 way battle in Saturday comp between Reynella, Happy Valley, Flagstaff Hill and Morphett Vale.

Lots of players in both sides from last year that played in the GF. Was simply pointing out the rivalry aspect and the same two clubs being involved. Coincidentally the top 4 clubs are the same this year also.

Likely to be a more serious game than what will be happening down at Aldinga too.

Well for us it is definitely!! Can't wait for that circus to be over at Aldinga. Vics seems to be determined not to let the Reynella/Valley match have any significance though. I'd better let our players know it doesn't mean anything.

AFC seems there are some people at our club of late that think junior premierships mean nothing also
Sure there has been alot of players move up to 16s but if nothing else this week will mean a good contest or our 14s - playing Porties 3 times in 5 weeks or something ridiculous where it was a very uneven game is no good for Porties or us. Junior fixture is a joke - lift your game SFL.

I'm not the one who spent his time making up an SFL announcement. I think it's you who clearly has too much time on your hands.
If you have no interest, don't comment.

Forgot to say earlier in the week, but congrats to Reynella on a much deserved win. They were very impressive in the 14's and right throughout the day with us only getting a victory in the 18's for the Sammy D Cup. Great when two clubs have a really competitive day and played in the right spirit. Didn't get the result we wanted, but Reynella are a very professional, well run club who engender great respect. Looking forward to hosting the Wineflies later in the year.

Does anyone know the ruling on Saturday comp players playing in the Sunday comp? How many can you have each week? What happens in finals etc?

Here you go. Full document is on the SFL website under documents/forms:

JUNIORS UNDER AGE COMPETITIONS
i) All Clubs participating in the Sunday competitions is to nominate their best top ten players of their Saturday under 14’s & under 16’s teams. Players nominated as the best top ten players in the Saturday under 14’s & under 16’s teams will be able to play in the Sunday Colts competition until the end of the minor round. Top ten nominations to be lodged at the League Office no later than 1st June in that year. The nominated best top ten players will be ineligible to play in the Sunday Colt finals series within their Sunday age group. (i.e. Under 14’s or Under 16’s)
ii) Players, to play in both Saturday and Sunday finals (but have not been nominate in the top ten players of the Saturday under age grade) must have played a minimum of 6 games in both competition to qualify to play. (i.e. players must have 6 qualifying games in the Saturday Under 14’s team, plus a further 6 qualifying games in the Sunday Under 14’s competition).
iii) This does not preclude players from playing in a higher age group, but that player must have a minimum of 6 qualifying club junior minor round matches.
If a player in the players age group qualifies with six matches only for the Sunday competition (i.e. Under 14’s) then that player can play in his age group (i.e. Under 14’s) of the Sunday Colt finals only, but that player would not be eligible to play in the players age group of the Saturday Colts finals, and vice versa Saturday to Sunday finals qualifications.
iv) The restriction, of 11 or more games played by players on Saturday making them ineligible to play in the Sunday Colts competition finals may not apply pending on Colts meeting held in March of each year, of Clubs participating in the Sunday Under 14 & Under 16 competitions.
v) Under 12’s Mini League players can play up in the under 14 finals series in either competition (providing permission has been given by parents & the player), and that the Under 12 players have qualified with (6) Under 12 games during the minor round.
vi) These Under 12 Mini League players must be currently registered with the League as a club player.

FINALS QUALIFICATIONS – JUNIORS Continued

6.2.3 CLUBS WITH MULTIPLE TEAMS IN SAME UNDER AGE COMPETITION
a) Member club/s who has two junior sides will abide by the following rules for the playing of football in the Saturday or Sunday competition.
b) Member club/s principal team will play in the main draw Saturday competition, and their secondary side will play in the Sunday competition.
c) Clubs after fulfilling point b. above may apply to the Southern Football League General Board to have a further team included in aged competitions.
d) Member Clubs that nominate more than two teams for a specific age group, must also supply the SFL with a list of all players that will be playing in that age group for the season relevant to the nomination. Additionally, each player that is likely to play most of the season in the competition that the Club proposes to field more than one team (i.e. Saturday Under 14’s or Sunday Under 14’s), must be aligned to specific team of that Club within that competition. The Club will also be required to nominate additional players that register with the Club after the original squad lists has been submitted.
e) The Southern Football League General Board will vote on this application at the first General Board meeting after the team nomination deadline of the 7th March in the current year.

6.3 JUNIORS & SENIORS

i) Clubs playing unqualified players in a finals series –
Will be referred to the Investigations Committee, if found in breach of
playing an unqualified player.

ii) Penalties - Team will be disqualified from taking further part in the finals
Series and a penalty not exceeding the scheduled fine - (Refer to schedule of
fines) applied to the club.

Pretty much open slather.

Generally the college clubs with these two teams have all their college players in their Sunday team but they rotate the cream through the Saturday team during school holidays and once the colleges finish so that they have the 6 games and are qualified for finals.

Come finals the dual team clubs seem to have very different teams on the park and the teams they had close games against during the season suddenly get smashed off the park.

There should be set squads for each team, back when we first had two teams, we had to apply for clearances to move a player from one team to another, and once cleared they could not be cleared back again - that's when the league used to put value on the credibility of each competition, rather than just bragging about how many kids are playing whilst glossing over the fact that some clubs do not field teams at all.

Hello All,

Hope everyone had a good weekend of footy.

Looking for some clarification around junior footballers moving clubs mid season, do they need clearances from their current club? who gives this approval from the club? and can a move happen quickly? what are the implications around this? it is at u/16 and u/14 level that I have had questions about this. Also if it is out of the SFL into another league say GSFL or Hills league for example.... does this work the same way? cheers!

its your club surely you could ask?

If you have concerns I presume you have raised them with the club?

We played the MV Black team 3 weeks back and they certainly are not dominating the comp if that is what you are insinuating

We all know scores aren't kept in subbies (officially), but how do people feel about the kids singing their club song after an 'unofficial" win? Personally I don't see anything wrong with it, as long as the team goes about it the right way. Interested to hear what other think.
