Jewellery prices are entirely mythical, and what you pay for something in a Jewellery outlet and what it is really worth is unrelated.
For example, my wife's engagement ring was last valued for insurance by a jeweller at $7800 in 2007.
The best I was offered by several jewellers when I considered selling it in 2009 was just under $2000 - so I've just kept it.
(I paid $640 for it 24 years earlier.)

They just offer you scrap price. That's all Les Gold would offer too unless it was a rare gold coin or something similar.

FFS! Mortgage broker or bank would be filling that paperwork out. The bank is only allowed to hold that money for a short period by law. Bank pays the builder.
