Oh, he definitely took one for the team. He will be well looked after in jail, he will never talk, and he will never get out. There's no point in anyone beating the s*** out of him either, because it won't open his mouth and the guys whom he took the rap for won't care. I think he probably had very little involvement, relatively speaking.

Haven't heard anything from Steven Marshall for a while. Is he still around or just too embarrassed to take the public stage?

The way the Feds are going he might need to build himself a bunker with enough room to house the entire Federal ministry.

Boom ... John Gazzola unloads!

DUMPED former Upper House president John Gazzola has branded his successor, Labor colleague Russell Wortley, a “parasite” and called for his resignation as a factional brawl over the role spectacularly spilt on to the floor of State Parliament tonight.

In a stunning development, Mr Gazzola has used his address in reply to Governor Kevin Scarce’s speech, which opened State Parliament earlier this month, to blast his colleague.

Mr Gazzola, of Labor’s Left, lost Caucus endorsement for the Upper House President’s post after the state election as part of a complex factional deal that brought independent Geoff Brock into Cabinet.

The Upper House President’s job comes with a chauffeured car and a $100,000 pay boost.

“Sir, normally I would congratulate you on becoming the President of the Legislative Council,” Mr Gazzola said. “Given the circumstances and by the mere fact that you became the President through a secret factional deal, it is difficult for me to wish you well in your role.

“I have been asked by members to assist you and advise you in your new role. I have formed my own view that you are a parasite and an embarrassment to the Labor movement.”

Mr Gazzola also said Mr Wortley should resign “given your record as a minister”.

He is definitely not getting any penetration into the media for whatever reason. IMO this makes him look like he's gone into hiding after the election loss. This, along with the Federal budget fallout will have Labor rubbing their hands together. Also their new oval is a success, their new medical research centre is posed to take advantage of the Federal medical research fund (even though they publicly oppose the $7 GP tax) and the South Road upgrade seems like it will go full steam ahead.

The Feds provided $200M whilst the State provided $30M to SAHMRI, so the State Government can't claim much credit, but of course they tried to convince otherwise by their blatantly political election posters.

Same with the Darlington part of South Road
Feds are putting in 80%

Loved Snelling this morning - No Dr he knows at the SAHMRI are going to accept the research funding from the co-payment.
Dutton then came on - he should have said "OK point taken, no research funding will be provided to the SAHMRI"
Then watch the $hit hit the fan........

There is always negotiation about getting their slice of the federal pie though, so they can claim a win as a result of that. All state governments do...

The State government has little or no influence over the operations of SAHMRI.

It is not part of government and has its own Board, primarily consisting of the 3 Unis and SA Health.

It receives funding through research grants and and it's own medical research fund.

As stated before it received most of the funding for it's facility from the Federal government, and is currently trying to source funding for a 2nd building next to the current one. This will also have to be almost totally funded by the Feds to get off the ground.

So in reality, it doesn't matter what the State Government think about it all, SAHMRI will gladly accept any funds it can get, regardless of how that funding is paid for.
