Just have to get rid of the other one plus a few neighbours plus one particular nosy prix

I think a clean out would be good for them to get fresh faces and enthusiasm into the party. They really should target the Central, Northern and Western city electorates though.

I also just realised that 3 adjoining electorates have lost their elected member (albeit for different reasons) since the election!
Waite - MHS defected to Labor, Fisher - Bob Such on leave to recover from illness, and now Davenport with Iian Evans retiring. What is going on in the South East corner of the City and with the week Isobel Redmond has just had, will a another adjoining electorate in Heyson be vacated??

Maybe I'll put my hand up for it...

Back in 1996 I was considering standing for Heysen when David Wotton retired, but my wife said I had to choose between a political career and her and I decided to keep the wife. ( She did not want the role of a politician's wife, and argued that I was too idealistic, would hate the compromises I had to make, and would become Hell to live with - after thinking about it at the time I concluded she may have been right.)

And Evans should retire.

His vicious attack on Bob Such completely aliened him and ensured that Such would be extremely unlikely to support the Liberals in a hung parliament. It didn't matter in the end but just shows how utterly stupid the Libs are.

Marshall now needs to grow some balls and demand Chapman join Evans to close off those 2 'dynasties' that have ensured Liberal obsolescence for a generation.
It is better to be silent and be thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt

I had alot of respect for David Wotton as he was always genuine and a decent bloke.

Ditch the wife, I think you should have a crack at it Psyber ;)

I'm in the clear - the wife died (of natural causes) in 2008.
Yes, I liked David Wotton too.

Thanks.
It is over 5 years now, and the passage of time (and building a new lifestyle back in Adelaide) has eased the pain I experienced at the time.
It doesn't distress me these days, and I'm now enjoying the freedom of the single life again.

The amusing thing is that friends' wives have started coming up with ways to introduce me to their single girlfriends.
(Free lunch at Jolley's for meeting one recently.)

True, the mate's wife could get stroppy if I let any potential follow up with her friend slide because I have other priorities...
(Like going to the Porsche open day to see the new Macan.)

Still there is another double-date they've lined up later this month. :)

I'm focussed and have my priorities right - I went to the Porsche open day today, and I'm test driving the Macan S on June 23rd...

The state can look after itself for while longer. ;)

Treasurer Tom said we can either do away with a hospital upgrade or do away with the environment department. I guess that is an indication of the significance that contemporary govenments place on the environment, um, the ONLY environment we have. maybe when we get back in the black we can just buy a new one.

how did the test drive go?

It was pretty impressive apart from the slow driver in front of me on the Upper Sturt Rd who wouldn't pull into the slow vehicle pull off lane even when I prompted him. He was doing 46 in a 60 zone when I was trying to test the car's fast cornering ability. I had to pull off and let him get further ahead so I could get a good test in before catching up with him again. (Presumably he was intimidated by a little rain - the salesman sitting next to me wasn't worried.)

The Macan S and Audi SQ5 are neck and neck - I'll have to drive them both same day when I get back from my 6 weeks in Townsville, in mid August.

That would have given him/her a 10-15 minute head start. Good thinking, I might do that in the future. ;)

I'd go the Audi...( I assume Q is Quattro? )
