I know mate, but wouldn't be surprised if Uruguay appeal for no reason other than to keep him playing until the penalty is cleared.

Yeah, I figured that was your justification after I thought about it.
Should FIFA back flip on this, then they are more of a joke than 1st thought FFS

I doubt they would mate, it would be purely a stalling tactic I would imagine

Where to for Capello now?
Who would want the Russia job leading into next World Cup?
In terms of International Jobs (apart from England Boss) appears to be the biggest 'poison chalice' the Russian Job.

LPH wrote:So the Round of 16 is finalised:
6 x European Teams: Germany, Holland, Belgium, Switzerland, France & Greece - fair to say the 1st 5 were pretty much expected,
Greece the surprise.
5 x South American Teams: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Columbia, Uruguay - all 5 given real chances,
perhaps Chile were questionable due to Group.
3 x Central American Teams: Costa Rica, Mexico, USA, - All 3 were surprises from their respective Groups
with Costa Rica the 'story' of the WC so far
2 x African Teams: Nigeria, Algeria - Algeria a very big surprise from their Group

Of the matches to be played, one can suggest that Costa Rica will beat Greece & continue the fairytale.
While Columbia should now beat Uruguay (minus Jaws).
Germany to beat Algeria looks certain, but the other 5 games look very interesting.
I expect the Argies to beat the Swiss but no certainty.
Holland v Mexico looks like a 'cracking match', as does Brazil v Chile.
France may well find Nigeria very difficult - give them a real chance (hoping not due to $21 I got on the Frogs before the Tournament)
Belgium v USA looks 'mouth watering' - toss of the coin there I reckon. Belgians will be favourite but Yanks a real chance.

My predictions from here for the Semis:
Brazil v Germany & Argentina v Holland but...
Would love to see Columbia & Costa Rica make it that far.
Rodregez has been the 'find' of the Tournament IMHO - he's @ Monaco at the minute, isn't he? Likely to be in Spain soon, me thinks.

It's a Brazil v Argies final at the Maracana
It was decided months ago
Everything else in prior is irrelevant

oh my

from espnsoccernet

Luis Suarez's defence statement to FIFA: "In no way it happened how you have described, as a bite or intent to bite. After the impact... I lost my balance, making my body unstable and falling on top of my opponent. At that moment I hit my face against the player leaving a small bruise on my cheek and a strong pain in my teeth."
