My local Cheap As Chips (I think A Mum knows which one this is) has one of the larger food ranges I've seen in one. Much more reliable for buying some of the things I like, such as oysters, anchovies etc than Rite Price - and always within the dates, unless very carefully stated. They often have museli bar specials which are half the price of the two supermarkets in the same complex, and always plenty of time before expiry on them. Also known to have specials on big jars on Mentos, which I keep on my desk at work - until my workmates discover them, of course :)
Can you guess where I'm calling from, the Las Vegas Hilton...

I don't mind Rite Price I go there every few weeks but never for serious shopping (meat, veggies, milk etc) , most people know that though. Soft drinks, sugary lollies, chips can hold up alright even if 6 months out of date. I bought a pack of jelly beans once for 50c that was six months out of date and didn't taste any different to the full price $2-$3 you get in the supermarket.

From time to time they also sell American soft drinks like 12 can packs of Dr Pepper, Tab etc for $10.

If you notice this can you let me know. Dr Pepper is the greatest drink in the world. GoLo near me has 2ltr bottles for $5, but its the UK made Dr Pepper, which I think tastes different.

True it does, the US one is much better than the Dublin one. They had a shitload of those 12 pack half slabs for $10 about 3-4 months ago of all kinds Dr Pepper, Dr Pepper Cherry, Tab, Pepsi Wild Cherry, Mountain Dew Code Red, Strawberry Fanta but pretty much just Tab and regular Pepsi's left now.

If the Dr Pepper's ever come again I'll let you know.

Never been in one.
The options around where I live are Woolworths, Coles, and a couple of Romeo's IGA outlets.

In Melbourne we tended to use the Maxi at Ferntree Gully, and get things unavailable in the outer areas at the Coles in Malvern when nearer the city.
I went into an Aldi a couple of times but didn't buy anything.

One thing I do miss from Melbourne is 24 hour 7 days a week supermarkets.

The green curry prawn balls in the frozen section are recommended :)

Their 'Speciality Foods' lamb & chicken frozen yiros' are not only half the price (about $4 I think) of the frozen yiros' in the big supermarkets but IMO actually taste better.

I used to love frozen yiros's from the IGA at Taperoo when I was 14. Might have to load up on some again.
