Rangers and Rays both won on final day.
Need a 1 game playoff tomorrow to decide who meets the Indians in the AL wildcard game

I think both will struggle with the Red Sox given its current form.

Red Sox have made 19 runs in two outings to deflate Tampa Bay 2-0 in the best of five ALDS games.

Yep sure was. If you saw the game I was sitting one seat behind the guy who caught the first foul ball of the game.

I do enjoy watching baseball, but I also find it very frustrating. Takes so long for something to happen a lot of the time and sometimes after 3 hours still nothing has happened! However, watching some of the highlights I came to the idea that a few changes could really help baseball. Here is what I thought.

1. All pitchers bat. They're part of the team, they bat. There's not much greater theatre in cricket than watching a #11 try to help his side by scoring a few runs and in baseball who doesn't love seeing a pitcher scrap away and get a hit or even the odd home run?

2. No relievers. You're the pitcher, finish the game. If you're hurt or about to be, then take 2 weeks off if you come out early. This will force pitchers to firstly get smarter, but secondly pace themselves. Will make batting easier early and late and help scoring.

3. 1 less player. Create some extra space on the field by making it 8 players per team. This would help show off the speed and athleticism of the best fielders and also mean the best batters bat more often.

Pitchers will be batting in the next few games. Having a designated hitter is an American League rule only, so only World Series games hosted by the AL team have a DH.

With regards to point 1, Jakovasaurus is spot on
Im dead against point 2, most people dont understand the stress a pitchers body goes through, hence the reason they usually are rested for 2-3 days after pitching, the shoulder doesnt recover well enough to pitch everyday. Can be 150+ pitches in a game of baseball, a pitcher is unable physical to pitch that long, try asking an opening bowler to bowl 25-30 overs straight, so a reliever is essential.
Point 3, not a bad idea but just like cricket the rules have already made it far easier for the batting side, most grounds are far smaller than a few years back and the strike zone is smaller than it once was

I understand perfectly well that pitchers will be hitting in the series, I just want pitchers to always hit. The fact the American League doesn't require pitchers to bat unless playing in a National League venue sucks IMHO.

I get the pitchers wouldn't be able to get through a game pitching as they do, it would require an alteration in their outlook. It would certainly mean a drop in speeds across the board but we'd see control and movement become more important.
