Sav was my dear old mums favourite for a long time. Grabbed his autograph in a pub one night on a beer coaster for her and she melted lol. Can remember being surprised at how quiet/shy and polite he was for such a big unit.

A little bit but not a lot. Said he loved AFL more, particularly the team aspects. And that he didnt get paid that much when he first went over, but got a decent deal after 3 years.

It was like getting blood out of a stone sometimes - quite often Mike reverted to talking to Anthony about Sav, even though Sav was sitting right there!

Both came across as very likeable blokes (but maybe not the sharpest tools in the shed haha)

Yes Mike asked Sav about his move from AFL to NFL once he retired from playing for the Roos and they showed some footage of him practicing punting at Etihad Stadium with his Roos teammates watching.

He said his body was probably better suited to play NFL but he didn't have the burning desire to play it like he did playing AFL. He said that the best thing about footy is the comradery of the team and teammates and NFL didn't have that. Mike asked him about his wage at Philadelphia, I think he said he was on a rookie contract for 3 years and after that he was on the same as an average AFL player wage now, around $250,000/300,000.

Mark ‘Jacko’ Jackson launches verbal attack on Mike Sheahan during filming of ‘Open Mike’

MARK “Jacko” Jackson has launched an extraordinary verbal attack on Mike Sheahan during the filming of the latest episode of Fox Footy’s ‘Open Mike’ show.

Jackson became abusive towards Sheahan as soon as filming started yesterday which set the tone for a tense and awkward interview.

The final product, which insiders say will shock many people, will be shown on Tuesday night.

There has been tension between the pair for a long time but the actions of the former Melbourne, St Kilda and Geelong wild man stunned everyone on the studio floor.

He told Sheahan immediately as the cameras started rolling that he “hated him” which set the tone for the confrontational interview.

Jackson claimed the former Herald Sun chief football writer had ended too many careers and that he’d been waiting for years for the opportunity to have a crack at the veteran journalist.

Speaking on Friday morning, Sheahan said he was still “a bit shell-shocked” from the encounter.

“Fox management were keen for me to talk to Jacko, I must say I wasn’t quite as enthusiastic but we all do what we are told,” he told Triple M.

“As soon as we did the intro he just launched. He unleashed this fury that had been building for 30-years. I’m a big boy and I’ve been in confrontations before but probably not to this level.

“It is unsettling to hear someone say that no-one respects you or likes you. Not withstanding the fact that I knew there was history between us.”

“It was pure fury in a verbal sense.”

Renowned for his erratic behaviour on and off the field, Jackson played 82 games before retiring in 1986 and embarking on a singing and acting career.

What I find funny is that even though Jacko really hates Sheahan, and has done so for decades, he still accepted the invitation to go onto the telly and be interviewed. I guess when your greatest claim to fame is a bunch of thirty year old Energizer ads, plus under-achievements in footy, singing, and acting, you'll do anything to convince yourself (and the public) you're an important as you think you are.
