Just ******* sad.
I've spoken to people today who have lost everything.
I've spoken to folks who've fled the fires.
I've spoken to folks fighting the fires.
I was worried about my wife, who was at work in the fire zone.
I've spoken to people who had close calls.

I feel shit. I feel helpless.
But I don't feel as bad as those who are at immediate risk now, or who have lost everything.

I'm thankful for what I have and today is just another reason to be thankful.

LM and BR, my thoughts are with you and yours.

Sorry if that did offend.

Tonight has been an absolute disaster unfortunately a very good friend lost their brother in the fire late yesterday so havent slept yet and have had lots of things running through my head. (especially after watching endless late night news trying to fall asleep all revolving around syria and bushfires etc etc.) I guess posting on here was one way for me to get out some of the different thoughts that's been going through the head overnight.

I suppose its more a fear of mine after seeing the girlfriend nearly lose her house last year in the sampson flat fires and now this.

It wasnt meant to offend anyone.

That's the worse mate, I feel so helpless, all I can do is offer my house to my grandparents who require special needs and my many relatives within the area who have been affected, I've felt severely ill since yesterday afternoon. I am lost as a person.

I didn't read what you wrote, whufc, but I'm sure no harm was done. These events bring up all sorts of fears and emotions, and it's better to get them off your chest. From what I can glean from my time reading this forum, your heart's in the right place.

Anyway, take it easy, and try to get some rest. You'll need your strength to help with your friend's recovery.

Here's a story from someone who had to escape the fire.
I had a lump in my throat as I listened to this interview take place.
I can only imagine how hard it would have been to get out.

Was talking to a Freeling mate this morning, someone you'd know, no doubt, and he was feeling a bit the same. Unsure of what to do, as it this point there's not much that he can do to help - buildings etc too hot to do any cleaning up yet.
He got home to find his gutters overflowing with water, meaning the water bomber had dropped a nice big load on his house.
