Feel mostly for my Mum who will be cut to shreds by it, Mum's an only child and this was Mum's only female cousin, they were like sisters. My old lady has just been on the Oasis of the Seas on a cruise for the last few days, not looking forward to picking her up at the airport this afternoon with the news.

Yikes, sorry to hear Boon, obviously even with a diagnosis this must've been very unexpected so soon as I get the feeling that your mum may not have gone if there was a chance of this happening.

They had the cruise booked prior to the diagnosis, last week while she was still in a position to say so she urged Mum to go, told her there was nothing she could do here.

Mum was torn, for sure. Cheers all.

I don't know what's worst, a rapid decline or a slow agonising one. At the end of the day, as long as nothing got left unsaid, that's the one thing that I feel comfortable about with my dad passing, we were able to heal old wounds and use the time he had left wisely and spent most of it reminiscing and paying each other out.

Although he is gone, I know he watches over me, when I'm doing the right thing in life I seem to have a bit of luck with the punt, when I'm being a bit carefree I do shit.

He always boxed 1,2 & 4 in the dogs, when I feel that he'd be happy with what I'm doing with my life I'll box them up each race for the evening and I come out alright.

Been there with the rapid decline for both my parents after the diagnosis. However with them, I think they knew they were in some strife and delayed the inevitable.
I would say a rapid decline is the best way than long slow suffering.

Thoughts are with ya Boon.

I hope you've figured out your plan of action. Probably not best to drop it on her in the airport. At least wait until you get back to the car.

Condolences. I came to work this morning and got a phone call from our GM to tell me that my Manager had passed away on the operating table last night. He was in to have his gallbladder removed and suffered a heart attack. It has been a very sad day at work today.

I went in and met them at the baggage carousel, listened to how brilliant the cruise was on the walk to the car, chucked the bags in the car and she asked if I'd heard from the family, my tears as I went to hug her were enough to tell her. The next few minutes wasn't great.

Dropped her home, she cried all the way home. I called her about 8:30, she was still in tears. Called in this morning to see her and she was a little better.

The wishes of my aunt were for no funeral which sort of means "What now?", as Mum put it. She'll be ok, she's going to see some of the other cousins today so it'll be another rough day for them.

Appreciate the inquiries and well wishes folks, you're good people.

That side of Mum's family, in my life time, have had 4 or 5 who have had it as their wish. It does make it hard indeed, no final moment to "move on" from. ( If you just, "move on" )

He's currently having a stay at the Vet getting his whole urinary system flushed. He's been hours away from death twice since Monday.

If we couldn't have come up with $3000 he would of been put down yesterday.

People joke about men with cats, but watching your mate go through that, and then be faced with the choice of leaving without him really f**ks a person up.

We will know on Friday if he's going to be ok.

He came home last night. Still monitoring him and giving him meds.

The first procedure failed, and we ran out of money, so the vet (amazing people) offered to do it again for free, and they took him to their home set up for the weekend. Saved his life, and us about $2000.

Got another check up on Friday to get the all clear.
