How far do you want to go back as you will find they all did as late as the end of the 60's?

Norwood wore lace ups under Bunton in the late 60's but I think they were optional. Made little difference because then Norwood had no red collar.
I remember John Inglis had his number 21 lace up jumper ripped off his back late in the game and my mate asked him for the jumper ....John said " No good to me mate " and gave it to him. My mate repaired it and wore it to footy traing even though it was many sizes too big ha ha.
Don't forget the lycra jumpers Neil Craig inflicted on us at Norwood !!!! Does that qualify ? Shxt don't remind me.

IIRC Mick Nunan wearing a lace up for Norwood in the '78 GF.
Michael Aish wore one too in the early 80s
IMO Norwood lace ups didn't look as smart as Port,Sturt and the odd Glenelg and West
players that wore them.

I think some West Adelaide players wore lace ups in the 1991 GF.

I sure do miss the old lace ups, not quite so sure about Norwood's lycra experiment though. I suppose they were the precursor to the sleek guernseys they have today.

More than the odd Glenelg player wearing them. Richmond started wearing them after playing Glenelg in a trial match in 71 from memory.

Let that be a lesson to you Sturt. You don't beat Glenelg 3 times in a row in Grand Finals and get away with it.

Mine sits in a frame at the entrance to my "Man Cave"

The VFL banned them in 1985 and the SANFL followed eventually. I think I was the last one to wear one at SAAFL level until I retired in 2002 when all clubs had to buy licensed clothing which the suppliers did not supply.
