Magpie Marley Williams charged with assault following nightclub incident

Collingwood player Marley Williams has been charged with assault following an incident overnight at a nightclub in his home town of Albany.

The 19-year-old Western Australian made his debut for the Magpies against Adelaide in Round Nine this year.

Collingwood have said they will be making no further comment on the matter since the incident is now being handled by Police.

I can see the Pies finishing anywhere between 1st and 8th.
Won't miss the finals. Got the best midfield going around.
Just need to fill a few gaps.

Kinda how I'm seeing it at this early stage. If the progressive movement away from Micks game plan towards Bucks is a step forward, and our recruits have a big impact, we could be in for a big year. If teams continue to expose us one on one in our defense, and cut us up through the middle, if our forward line relies on bombing it in, and our recruits are flops then we should still finish top 8 but won't be a real threat for the flag. Interesting times!

Yep, you defence is the biggest worry.
O'Brien and Maxwell are suspect when they have to go one-on-one.
Reid's a good prospect though if he stays fit.

I feel that the pies are in for a good year. With Ball returning at some point, although he'll be underdone he does provide that hard ball grit in the middle and adds to the depths.

With the additions of Lynch and Young I think they have done fairly well. Loosing Dawes and Wellingham wont be felt too hard at all with the results from the draft. I am sort of expecting that collingwood might use Lynch as a forward only and obviously Jolly would take most of the ruck but young Brodie Grundy would come into the team as raw as he is to play the second ruck and 3rd forward role. Just seem to think this is what the pies will be looking at. They will be keen to get Grundy's development moving while having Jolly shield him from the first ruck duties.

Midfield wise, well its gold in there. Beams took a massive step forward last year as well as the improvement from Sidebottom as well. Ball is back, Young is into the side and some young talent like Ben Kennedy to work with up forward.

Pies should be feeling confident about the season. There is only one issue. The defence. Reid is a gun, Tarrent retirement will hurt but O'Keefe looks ok. So it could work out, but the issue will be about the depth down back.
Read my reply. It is directed at you because you have double standards

Defence is a little shaky, but good defence comes from all 18 players on the field these days. Nevertheless, Reid, Brown & Keefe should hold up against most forward lines.

How cool is that. You can take drugs that would get you banned in other sports, or sacked in other workplaces, but in the afl, you just tell an afl doctor and you have no consequences.

Holden has jumped on board with a $10m sponsorship over 3 years
Would of thought with the bail out the SA government has given them they could of thrown a bit of sponsorship Port's way.

Probably a fair point there Jim, although they'll get more out of sponsoring us then the power you'd think.
