Talk on the national game

As a mate who is a life-long St Kilda supporter (who doesn't follow the AFL closely anymore) said upon hearing this "Typical Saints, the cultures always been bad down there, nothing will change". At least Milne's gone but still trying to keep out of jail, did they find out who it was down there that likes setting dwarves on fire?

Blight tried they ran him out of there, just blow the club up IMO.

Nothing. I reckon Nick can be considered a great. In his prime his workrate and ability to get to contest after contest was second to none. Clearly not a better leader than Kirk but not many are. Riewoldt the better footballer though.

If you can believe Grant Thomas (in all reality, who possibly could) then Scott Watters is, in the view of Thomas, one of the top 3 "football brains" he has ever encountered in the game. Ever.

The other two are Rodney Eade and Terry Wallace.

I think St. Kilda should seriously look at relocating to Tasmania.

Grant Thomas mentioned a couple of weeks ago that they're likely to eventually move to New Zealand, but Tassie seems a better option to me.

Would be tough though FC- Hawthorn own that market now.

There was a really good article on St. Kildas coaching failures since Stan Alves got the sack at the end of 1998. It wasn't centred around the dud coaches they have appointed, rather the styles in which they left as a result of lack of success. Alves got the boot 1 season after taking the saints to a GF, Tim Watson and Blight werent even given a season (despite Blight being paid huge bucks to deliver results for a club, where he wasnt 100% committed to the job anyway), Thomas walked after a few preliminary finals, Lyon walked having seen the writing on the wall given the changes his squad was about to face, and now Watters has been shown the door a season after being given the job.

To me that says that unless you deliver results IMMEDIATELY- then walk or we will sack you.

The best place that St. Kilda could start to clean up is their board and administration. We have all witnessed what Port was capable of with an administrative clean out and there is nothing to suggest the saints couldnt do the same with the right people at the very top of the club.

I agree with you about the Saints needing to overhaul the admin side of things, and the lack of patience with their previous coaches.

However, I'd still like to see them relocate to Tasmania, and base the club at Bellerive. I know the Hawks have a lot of the Tassie market covered, but they play all their Tassie games in Launceston.

Saints just spent bucketloads moving to Seaford so I don't think they would be in any great hurry to move.

However I think the people of Tasmania would quickly adopt the Saints as their team if they were going to be playing there every second week.

Power assistant coach Alan Richardson is having an interview for the Saints job this week. He's been saying that he doesn't want the job, even though he was just beaten by Watters for the position not that long ago. The Saints seemed pretty keen to get him to interview.

Who would you pick over Choco or Richardson? Choco for me

Will be extremely disappointing to see Richardson leave if he was successful- his partnership with Hinkley last season was instrumental in our rise back up the ladder.

Based on experience- Chocco, but dont discount the tactical / player management balance that Richardson appears very good at.

Will be a tough choice!

SEN Radio just reported that Alan Richardson has accepted the St Kilda coaching position and will be out of Adelaide by the weekend.
