Micky Arthur Sacked - Lehmann Appointed

Was just reading Michael Clarkes Ashes Diary

He mentioned Mickey Arrhurs mum was terminally ill and passed away only 36 hours after being sacked.

Wouldn't wish that upon my worse enemies.

I listen to him on Perth Talk Back radio I really like Arthur on a personal level. He seems different to most South African men who are big arrogant lugs who rarely back it ip on a sporting field. However I think he is delusional with his cricket theories.

From what I have read of the Clarke book they had an extremely strong relationship and had become really close outside of cricket.

As a coach it seemed like Arthur's was more of a people pleaser rather than coach which shone in the lack of discipline the side had which appears to be his ultimate downfall and major reason the axe was swung.

Mickey Arthur talks about his sacking as Australia's coach on The Bottom Line on Ch 9 at 4pm today.

Well Cricket Australia can rest easy now.....

Our shitty results dating back to 2010-2012 have now either dropped off or lost significant weighting in terms of ranking points are We are now back to being Number 1 in both Test and ODIs

So we stopped losing every game like we did back a couple of years ago and smashed the third ranked side, and then best the undisputed best team in the world on their own turf in the space of a year and you think we don't deserve to be ranked as number 1?

Makes perfect sense...

Wait what? Where did I say that we didn't deserve the ranking? Just pointing out that Cricket Australia can rest easy now as vindication for their decision to replace him with Darran Lehmann.

I sensed a whole bunch of sarcasm given you were alluding to our shitty results of a couple of years ago and not the good results of the past year. Apologies if I read it wrong.

Certainly a great achievement by the Aussies, the bowling had been insane, but our batting is what improved the most and is what delivered us the recent wins

And the beauty of Lehmann is that he has done it with a side none of us would have selected only 2 years ago.

No one in their right mind would have had the number 1 Australian test side with

Rogers
Doolan
Smith (except me off course)
Harris
Johnson
even Watson was a dubious selection to many

I think Harris and smith were there regardless. But both have played way above what even the most optimistic supporter would have homed. But yes, rogers and Johnson have been inspired selections, I'll give you that.

Warner has turned into a world class batsman too.

Agree Warner was another 'divided' decision but once again Lehmann showed faith in him and through plenty of hard work by Warner he has made himself a World Class Cricketer (note not world class slap artist)

There is no question that he is a good coach, just not for Australians. A guy needs to know his playing group to get the best out of them. Arthur did that with the saffers but failed to do it with the Aussies.

I think you need to blame the people who appointed him rather than Arthur himself, as he was clearly the wrong fit
