I suspect Port will play two ruckmen against Carlton this week then.

Yeah i've thought that for a few weeks now.

Not sure to be honest why we are bothering- Sure, Renouf is getting first hands to the footy, but i would like to see his hitouts to advantage stats, wouldnt be high at all.

We were -16 clearances at quarter time against the saints, surely their midfield isnt worthy of +16 from Hickey's ruckwork...

Some of you may remember Stazza, and his very brief appearance on SA Footy.

He wrote a terrific assessment on the PAFC at the end of season 2011 (IIRC) and he has branched out to open his own website; www.somethingtocrowabout.com.au.

He is a crow fan (pity him  ), but does love his magpies and all things footy.

Here is another great article, a round 1 review of port v carlton- with a bit of quadzilla man love to sweeten the read. Enjoy power fans.

I am the last person to be a fan of anything relating to Port but that speech by Hinkley was one of the best things I've heard in a very long time.

Agree with all, only unlucky one i think Matt Thomas, but could possibly get opportunities else where.
Hitchcock lucky to survive i would have thought.

I think that John Butcher is a waste of time and look at Matt Thomas and how well he is going with Richmond so far? Goes to show what faith Richmond has in him and how little Port had by letting him go.

Doubt you'll find anyone argue that Matt Thomas isnt a good player, but as far as an inside midfielder at Pt Adelaide his opportunites were going to be limited.

Yeah were really struggling with out him hey!

I like Thomas and yes he can play but who would you replace him for in our midfield now? I can tel you NO ONE in fact he is a very similar player to Tommy Logan who I believe was always in front of Thomas.

I wish him well

Thommy is generally admired by the footy public due to his hard at it nature, but he is a limited player at AFL level (suspect kick, lack of pace).

Butcher also has his limitations, but is a KPP and still has the time on his side to improve.

Agreed. Id think a leadership group would share input too, sounded more like a teacher talking to a kindergarten group.

With Port about to hit 50,000 members the club is doing lots of things right off-field and if allowing access to things like this grows the supporter group and membership numbers, go ahead!

Oh I agree about sharing it, that's a separate point.
But I'd hope most addresses to leadership groups would be a bit more intelligent with twobway communication addressing points that perhaps couldn't be shared. Its justa PR exercise but a good one if some people fall for the premise that its fair dinkum. I wouldn't even address rookies like that but I am out of touch with the sooky gen y.

It would be a very small part of the pre-game address, for sure, with content suitable for releasing to the masses.

I once got asked did I "Need a Ra Ra from the coach to want to play?"....sometimes,but I was a amateur hack. The blokes at AFL level do the work during the week, games don't get won by the coaches pre-game speech on game day.

Did they actually show the speech with the players around or was it just the footage on youtube.

The footage on youtube makes it feel and sound like a pre scripted speech for promo purposes.

Port allowed Fox Footy into the rooms on Saturday and then after the players were consulted Monday morning, Port allowed Fox to show the footage publicly.

Fair enough, good work without actually seeing him talk to the players though it really feels like a staged production

I agree the days of a rocket up the arse with full time footballers are very few and far between and generally won't achieve alot.

The Hinkley bit about remaining calm reminds me of a Steve Waugh book I read where one of his early grade coaches use to preach to him all the time that as captain of that side 'he had to be the calmest bloke in the room regardless of situation at all times"

It's something that has stuck with me forever which I use on a regular basis in sport and at work where I deal with lots of first aids from minor to majors

To be honest a 7 point loss is flattering. I thought we were shocking today had we played better opposition I think we would've got pants. Norths pressure was in good close and Bastinac basically did what he felt like doing but the game as a hole wasn't one for the Ages.

Move on to Brisbane and hopefully put in a better performance.

Who comes in for Angus?

If they bring in Hitchcock the crowd will be minus 1 I refuse to go if he is in the side
