Depending on what is negotiated not much difference between a first year assistant coach and a senior full time SANFL coach. However the AFL industry has a great capacity for paying over the odds if they really want you.

Figured as much, which is why he would be hesitant to move interstate and upset a family for the sake of little or no extra coin.

But as mentioned above Norwood would have to have some sort of time frame to know his answer and I'm sure both parties are aware of where they stand.

Maybe he was being as indecisive as he was on the radio the other night, and North wanted someone who really wanted the job. I have no idea why it was taken away, but that could be it.

Pretty sure he'd accepted a job with NM but the prez then decreed the offer was too high and needed to be reduced. If the reduced offer didn't meet Bass' requirements he had every right to knock it back..

Bass would have every right to demand the terms of the original offer, and the employer is bound to them.

Vauguely remember hearing he had an offer of $150,000 to be an assisstant coach but they then decided that was too much and offered $80,000 which he declined. Think it was in the paper

Obviously he was initially offered a contract way above his worth.

Doubt any assistant coaches in the AFL would be on that wage and I certainly wouldnt move my family intertate for $80,000 when he is probably on close to that at Norwood.

My guess would be that it was an in principle verbal agreement, but the terms and/or value were then altered prior to signing on the dotted line.

Yup, I would suggest he knocked it back, and I wouldn't blame him one bit for doing so during a process that resembles amateur hour.

He won't go to an AFL club unless his worth is met.

Whatever we all think of his personal characteristics, the bloke is a super coach and is worth a place in the AFL system.

If two parties thrash out at the negotiation table and come up with a set of conditions and level of remuneration that is agreed upon, then the paperwork presented is significantly different, you consider that good business practice?
