We're in hell right now gentlemen. Believe me. And we can stay here, get the shit kicked out of us, or we can fight our way back into the light. We can climb outta hell... one inch at a time.

Might be passing Oval Avenue on way to Goolwa. Goolwa players rather excited about snaring Mickeljon.

I think they made an approach but he wasn't interested.

A huge shame because I think the eagles' ruck stocks are going to be extremely thin this year and he would solve the problem immediately.

MJ is one of the few opposition players I have always admired and I know the Norwood coaching staff hold him in high regard too.

Must be on a good wicket down there as he turned down a decent ammount to head up to the Barossa

I heard that offer from Tanunda was a tick under $25K and he turned it down

Forget about BIG TV deals and AFL Reserves teams saving our comp. The only way the SANFL will prosper is if the Powers of SA football start to cap these Country clubs. We are losing very good players to these clubs at an alarming rate.
Only problem is that the AFL will have no problem with this as, it is keeping the SANFL as a feeder comp. :x

There is no way that country clubs can ever be capped as most players are probably paid under the table by wealthy sponsors. If a country club can afford it good luck to them and I dont blame players for leaving the SANFL

Totally agree but having spoke to someone in the know at SANFL level it won't be long until the AFL starts enforcing its power throughout the country leagues around oz as they feel that the standard of state leagues and its under age comps are being compromised by the financial ability of these clubs which ultimately affects the overall talent coming through the AFL.

They see 18 year old kids earning $500 per game playing country as just as much competition as kids playing soccer.

The AFL want in the next 5 years to see a clear pecking order/structure in Oz football ranks. AFL currently feels its losing to many people from the system between the ages of 18-21.

Only way it could be done is if players & clubs have to sign stat decs on what they are paid but that could be more of a nightmare than anything.

How many star SANFL players have left to go to the country. Most are reserve players that are not going to make it or older players who's bodies are giving up on them.

The modern Footballer/recruit just doesn't want to play for a club that still sews numbers onto it's guernsies Dutchy.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

What Retzlaff/McIntyre??

By the end of the season it could be the best forward line combo in the SANFL

If you think these players are leaving the SANFL because their bodies are shagged ,you are kidding yourself. I am just saying we are losing players like Mickeljon and Ebert to cashed up Country clubs when they could still be playing in the SANFL.
I don`t blame the players for this, as they do have to make a living.
I know we lost Ladhams a few years back now to the Country and he certainly had more to offer at that time.
