Not NBL exactly but SA born former Townsville Crocs star Brad Newley with the game-saving tip-dunk at the buzzer that put his Spanish league team Gran Canaria into OT against Joventut:

Gran Canaria went on to win 89-82 with Newley scoring 17 points on 7/8 shooting.

Unfortunately sounds like Gary Ervin is going to miss tomorrow nights NYE game in Townsville due to knee surgery but supposedly will be alright for the home game against the Breakers this Saturday night.

We shall see.

Looking forward to Saturday nights game as I scored some gold passes. Is GE going to be fit to play?

I'm not sure to be honest but I suspect if he was there would be a bit of talk around about it.

The monthly awards for December have been handed out with Wollongong Hawks import Rotnei Clarke named player of the month beating out Chris Goulding & James Ennis and Melbourne Tigers coach Chris Anstey named coach of the month over Aaron Fearne & Trevor Gleeson.

A bit of a surprise with the NZ Breakers bringing NZ TV commentator Casey Frank out of semi-retirement due to Alex Pledger's injury.

Frank is a naturalised kiwi originally from the US who hasn't played in the NBL since the 2009/10 season but has played with numerous teams in the past including the Breakers previously too. He's a current member of the NZ national team and still plays in the NZ league.

36ers where excellent tonight. Strong win and never looked like being headed. Gibson was dominant, DJ was excellent and the spark seemed to come from the big bad Wolf!

Was a very good win by the 36ers, Gibbo is in a real purple patch. Hopefully they can get the Kings over there next Sunday.

Went to my first game in 10 years last night with the kids, thoroughly enjoyed, some miraculous shots going in when fouled.
Weird experience as I was used to us having a strong outside game and being hopeless inside where now its the opposite.
Also weird that our two best players were white!
Gibson and Creek were fantastic to watch.
Also weird that I knew more Townsville players than 36ers! (Hinder, Holmes and Crawford).
You could add Mike Kelly their assistant coach to that)
Paid extra for great 4th row seats right behind the Townsville coach
Will be back again soon for sure, a great night!
Only disappointment was they dont sell Coopers anymore! :(
