Doesn't matter how many teams you have, it's well known through the Metro West that Henley has more than enough kids to choose from each year and some could to be sent to struggling clubs around the Metro West.

And just on that do they cap squad numbers now so that can happen? I think I remember them doing it but I'm not 100% sure

I'm purely talking about the Metro West Marbles, I don't know anything about the other junior leagues that Payneham and Modbury play in.

I think they cap the numbers in the western junior leagues. I knew a kid who wanted to play juniors for Portland this year but was told they had enough players so he had to go back to Pt Districts

You wouldn't have a clue how much work has been put into the club over the years. I joined the club as a junior in the mid 2000's and we were no better off than any other club. Even my dad has told me how much the club was struggling when he played for the club back in the day. If you want something, you're going to have to work damn hard to get it. And if you can't beat us, join us :)

SATCHEL wrote:If what i am being told is correct. The calibre of players PNU are targeting and recruiting they will be a serious chance to make the jump two years in a row. Mind you they all have to gel for it to work. We saw this with sides like Walkerville and others this year. Hannah who approached PNU from TTG has renigged on his contract afetr sighting pressure from family not to leave TTG. Seeing that there were issues at TTG with not being liked yet takes the brunt of the family card (from what im led to believe). Would be interesting first night out on the track for him. Watch this space. The exec group at PNU have been extremely busy and good luck to them. If they get the next 2 guys that i have been told about then be like North Haven in Div 5 and order the merchandise now ;)

All this hysteria about PNU will come back to bite them. Big name recruits on big money will see PNU as they always do choke when they come up to Div 1 or 2

PNU spent 3 years in Div 2 after winning 2 premierships and made it to the heights of Div 1 in 2010 and didnt recruit. Yes they got relegated but i wouldnt say they choked. Note that none of the hysteria is coming from within PNU senior playing group, coaches or board. What other people post is their business and if a few of the young fellas from Payneham who now post and are excited and passionate about their club i say good on them. I dont think anyone has said anything more than we aim to do well and play finals. We came from the elimination final as a galvanised unit and one thing we didnt do is choke.

Choking for me would be more along the lines of spending huge $ and going out in straight sets as the screaming hot favourite. I guess though Cash you are clearly the most qualified to discuss the art of the choke as you have specialised in it in recent years. :)

Congratulations you got me to bite, see you tonight where we can argue this point at great length.

I can't recall anyone from PNU ever mentioning this "hysteria" that seems to be circling. Is the club as a whole excited for div 2? Yes. Have we said we will be in div 1 in 2015? No. Get your facts right people.

I like to think as if PNU is taking a leaf out of the one and only Fos Williams' book. It appears that PNU is is intent on creating and instilling a winning culture. Why wouldn't you want to have that within a club?

Let me refer to the creed for a moment.

"To be successful, each of us must be active, aggressive and devoted to this cause. We agree that success is well within our reach and have confidence that each member of both the team and management will suffer personal sacrifices for the common end.

Also we know that, should we after striving to our utmost and giving our everything, still not be successful, our efforts will become a further part of this Club's enviable tradition.

Finally, we concede that there can be honour in defeat, but to each of us, honourable defeat of our Club and guernsey can come only after human endeavour on the playing field is completely exhausted."

Don't get me wrong, the club has expectations and is determined to be successful. If you're playing at this level not to win, then I'm afraid this sport isn't for you.

Thought it was a done deal with Gepps?

You know how rumours gather momentum? By spreading word about something you know nothing about!

Originally an aquanitance of mine who plays for Gepps told me Thurgood had signed. I didn't post anything hear until I happened to bump into him at Alberton last week where I asked him myself. If this still isn't good enough for you, I saw him out at training on Monday with the Rams. It's a done deal. That's no rumour.

Just goes to show how keen he is to be at Gepps. He was out on Monday as well :)

I'm heading to Gepps Thursday to watch some AFL 9s and a couple of quiet frothies until Linda kicks me out and will solve the debate.

I'm assuming you mean P.Lowe. 2 very handy players indeed. J.Davis was a very good recruit for the falcons.

I think you will find that the artist formerly known as Chachi "Paul Lowe" was reffered to as Peter Love on Scotch,s 2013 Grand Final DVD that they were making to comemorate their season and GF appearance as unbackable favourites. Havent seen it as Herdy wont take my calls but thats what i have been told.

Also plenty floating on the grapevine about big money being thrown at the former star of GrassRoots footy show. Hopefully his unquestionable man love for Adam Rowett will see him stick with the Falcons.

Now let me see if I have got this right.
You have a crack at Scotch because (a) the neutral commentator calling the game refers to “Lowe” instead of “Love” (because that’s how his name was spelt on the programme) (b) Scotch let you have the original video copy of the game even though they had just lost a Grand Final (c) did I miss a thread where Scotch talked themselves up as ”unbeatable favourites”? (d ) you have a crack at Heard who probably was the one who set it up with PNU for them to get 25 dvd copies of the game (e) your spelling and grammar are embarrassing - refered, Scotch,s, comemorate, Havent, Herdy, wont, thats.
You won the Grand Final. You hardly have to rub it in to the opposition, especially one who helped your club. My guess is it would be in your best interests to keep clear of Heard for a while, especially as he would know who you are.

I think the commentator had done some research, as it seems when paul was 18 and playing in the birdwood a grade grand final the courier had infact called him Peter Love. it seems the name will stick with him forever as i am sure i have heard ladies calling him the "love dr"
with payneham having a d grade are there any retired superstars coming back? will darrington have a run around? maybge macca and sponge would be handy inclusions?
