IFFC have always sung the song on the oval. Always have and always will. If that is ordinary or disrespectful then i suggest you win then. It is all to do with sharing it with our supporters and most of the time we will move towards them, or at home in front of the balcony. On this, had to laugh on Saturday when Blackfriars were singing their song in the changerooms and banging on the interconnecting doors and really trying to rub it in. Only problem was i was the only one in our rooms, the team were at the far end of the ground warming down, as far as you can get from the visitors rooms.
Success is not final; failure is not fatal: It is the courage to continue that counts....

I agree Dogwatcher. I dont believe it makes any difference singing outside or inside. Its a celebration and thats all it is. Dont need to make it political and criticise a club for just singing their club song after a good win. Even if they happen to lose later on in the year. Its just a song.

What about inside and outside. Just so we could hear it twice.

if true thats ordinary..it was a minor round game between 7th and 8th wasnt it?!

While on this topic... ROCS sing on the field and the in the change rooms also. I believe they might be different songs though.
But pls, just pick one and go with it.

Seriously.. cant believe this is still being discussed :?

Who really gives a f**k?! I mean surely there are more important things to worry about than where someone sings a bloody song - like whose getting the 1st beer after the game! :P

I was only there for a quick meal and a coke as I had a prior engagement which a few of the lads also had.

Night ended prematurely as I needed to escort young B.Steele home after he got kicked out from The Lion within 40 seconds of us getting in there.

The reason? He knicked a chip from a bowl a waiter was carrying.

From here on in someone who gets aggrieved at Mitchell Park will be awarded the "Stolen Chip" trophy.

And people wonder why he's a cult hero.

Saw something on Saturday that I thought was a brilliant idea and think all clubs in the SAAFL should apply to themselves.

I was umpiring the game between Walkerville and Payneham NU. As you know, Walkerville wear the Geelong Cats colours and Payenham NU wear the Collingwood Magpies colours. Half way through the 1st quarter, Walkerville's captain approached me and mention there was a bit of a clash between the 2 teams. Which I believed there was. Being a new umpire I didnt mention anything before the game as the 2 captains didnt mention anything to me. Anyway. At the 1st quarter break, I approached Payenham's umpire and had a chat to him and both captains about the guernsey clash. Then without much talking or deliberating, Payenham's captain said that their guernsey's were reversables. What that means obviously that on the other side of the guernsey was a different coloured strip used for them to wear against another club who's guernsy may clash with theirs.

I thought that was a brilliant idea and think most if not all clubs should take up the same idea so that if there is a clash of guernseys. All that needs to happen is turn the guernsy inside out.

Very smart idea a believe. Has anyone noticed Payneham's clash guernsey??

Reversable jumpers are becoming increasingly popular.. they are very good also for training to do competitve work.

The irony is that after the clash gurnseys were put on PNU kicked 18 unanswered goals. Make of that what you will ;)

Surely you would remember from a couple of years ago when we beat you by 10 goals that we are black and white vertical and they are blue and white horizontal. Its not a direct clash

The reversible jumpers are a great idea, just be wary of the brand you get - there are some shit quality jumpers around the place.

Strange though, after decades of Geelong/Collingwood games, the AFL doesn't direct any change of jumper. Why it would be an issue for PNU/Walkerville has got me stumped.

Being a novice, first year umpire I didnt make the call till 1st quarter time after discussing it with the 2 captains. P.N.U didn't question the call and gladly turned their guernsey's inside out.

Looking at the players from behind. The dominant white of both clubs guernseys did make it a bit hard in close contests to see who was who.

Just saying that the reversable guernsey's are a brilliant idea.

Dont see it being "Irony". Just P.N.U wanted it more after the 1st quarter and Walkerville couldnt get there hands on it.
