Would have thought Showdowns 34 and 35 were alot more entertaining than the 2 "battle of the bridge" clashes TSG.

Instead of thinking that everybody is out to bash the Swans and Giants- surely even you can see from a neutral perspective- that these games will be incredibly one sided for at least 2014-15. Now I understand that not even a carlton / richmond clash is guaranteed to excite and could very well be a boilover also- but Sydney / GWS week 1 of round 1 is not the way, i personally, enjoy the season starting...

Yep Syd v GWS is very underwhelming. One day it may be a blockbuster. But until then, play a game with relevance and interest!

And until then the swans get 2 free hits every year.

That is your choice.

Back to my point- If I had to choose between watching a carlton v richmond (or god forbid the AFL thinking outside the square and bringing back the GF rematch as the opening game) or watching a clash between a side that is top 4 material v a side clearly building (bound to be a snorefest), I know what id rather watch.

The market will build in Sydney, the AFL will ensure it doesnt fail. Forget marketing on a development scale and market the games great drawcards for opening week i say.

Kangas in hobart seems an interesting choice, not sure why they'd schedule a thur night game against the pies.

The mrs mentioned this morning she thought she heard a quick snippet on the news last night that referred to 3 games on Anzac Day. Can anyone shed any further light on this?

The 2 that most would be aware of are:

COLL vs ESS - MCG
STK vs BL - WELLINGTON NZ

North Melbourne have a 3 year deal in place to play 2 games a year in Tassie at Blundstone Arena (Bellerive Oval).

I'm hearing rumours that the Crows round 3 opponent could be the Swans. This match would be the Crows first official home game at Adelaide Oval. I'd be hoping for a blockbuster type match. I don't think Sydney fits that bill.

If that were to be true along side the other double ups suggested that appears to be a fairly favorable draw.

Obviously that will be a factor, the fans will be out in force to heckle Skurt but I would prefer an opponent like Collingwood, Carlton or Hawthorn.

Get a full crowd to those games anyway so may as well try and cash in on team that doesnt pack out a stadium
